Congrats to your tigers, they played well tonight and were the better team. Tough pill to swallow due to the circumstances (last year) & stereotype driven world, but a much different feeling than last year. OSU attacked, kept fighting & made adjustments. They just didn't have the horses, especially in the passing game, to keep up with LSU. Looks like OSU was indeed destined for '08 hopes instead. Boeckman greatly exceeded expectations this year, and in the end wasn't quite ready for this kind of stage as a passer. On the flipside, Flynn was more than up to the challenge, and made a number of very tough throws, especially early on when he was being pounded. Tip of the cap to ya. What are the chances any talking head realizes strength & execution were the real factors tonight, not speed? Sure speed is flashy and easy for lazy analysts to spot, but it was the collapsing pocket & physical coverage that hampered OSU's O and the LOS that let LSU pick apart OSU's D. That Dickison (sp) had the only unstoppable SEC speed tonight
Both teams played their hearts out, but I think the Tigers had the tougher road this year and I believe the experience payed off tonight. Not taking anything away from OSU, all in all they played very good football, but the penalty bug that that has bitten us all year long got the Buckeyes in spades tonight.
Good analysis of the game. I agree with you, I don't think it's a speed issue as much it is an athleticism issue. Ohio State didn't have the athletes to compete in this game. The skill positions, especially at the wideout position. The disparity between LSU and OSU was astounding, and the difference in the game. But in the end, the game was won in the trenches, where I think most OSU fans were shocked to see that great O-line of OSU's practically manhandled. And the flipside, LSU's O-line totally controlled the front 7 of OSU's tremendous defense. Classy of you to post after the game. I wish you guys luck next season. Rodriguez will be a hand full.
