But from Herbstriet's unethical reporting of his inside info on the morning just prior to the SECCG, to Miles repudiation, to the Mizzou and WV losses, and our big win to capture the SEC Championship, well, this old Tiger fan it plumb tuckered out! I hope your fan base finds some peace with your next coach. I've read one of your boards for two years, and you guys have suffered enough division over Nutt.
I don't know the details of what's gone on at Arkansas during Nutt's tenure, but I swear, the offense he runs with McFadden looks very inventive to me. Seems to me that he's a heck of a coach. Can you provide a quick background of what went on there that caused him to quit?
There was a big mess at the end of 05, Nutt was his own OC, and fans thought his play calling was causing losses. He was forced to accept Gus Malzahn as OC, who was head coach of Springdale High in Arky, home of star QB Mitch Mustain and a wide out. After Gus signed to coach Arky offense, and some agreement he was bringing his passing offense, Mustain signed with Arky, plus two other Springdale kids. Gus called his offense for one game in 2006, lost big to USCw, and Nutt re-installed his running offense around McFadden. Mustain complained, and rode the pine the rest of the season. Malzahn quit to become OC at Tulsa, and Mustain transferred to USCw. It was a circus, with some of the Springdale parents taking out ads in the newspaper saying they were lied by to Nutt. The fan base splittered, and some folks quit going to the games till Nutt was fired. That's what I gathered from the Arky boards. And Frank Broyles will step down as AD at the end of 07, felt Nutt could do anything, like employ his incompetent brother and keep him around. All and all, a pretty bad scene.
