The announcer last night was describing Fresno St.'s attitude of playing anybody anywhere. He said Fresno St.'s coach Pat Hill wanted to play LSU with no return trip, but LSU refused and instead scheduled App St. This would have did wonders for our SOS. Anybody have any insight on this?
i heard the announcers mention that. pretty crappy if indeed true, especially since LSU was supposedly trying to find the best possible matchup.
I know there was talk about the AUBURN Tigers turning down a game with Fresno State this season, but last night was the first I had heard of LSU turning down a game with Fresno. If this were true, I'd think we would have at least heard of this rumor by now. Any chance this announcer got mixed up on LSU and Auburn?
Duh! ya think?! He was totally clueless. Kinda ticked me off that he said that garbage and the way that he said it - like LSU was scared to play Fresno and preffered to play the cupcake "Appie State." :angryfire
Unless Fresno St. had an agreement in hand with San Jose St. to switch the day of their game from Nov. 5 to another date, then Pat Hill and the announcer are both full of chit...or, maybe, Fresno St. was gonna take the "anyplace, anywhere, anytime" credo to ridiculous heights by playing San Jose St. at home on Nov. 5, hopping on a plane to Baton Rouge, and playing LSU later that same evening.
Even still, I have never understood the concept of playing I-AA teams. Is it because they only want the paycheck and will not insist on a home-n-home? Why not schedule a bottom feeder from a BCS conference (ala USC) instead? You still get the 'W' and a larger measure of respect than seeing a N. Texas or App. St. on your schedule.
