Page 124, Rule 9-2/ b.5: 5. Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6). http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2007/2007_football_rules.pdf Aren't fans subject to the rules? Why doesn't the NCAA penalize teams when there is too much noise? Thank goodness we play in Happy Valley this Saturday night where they don't make any noise, and if they do, our defense will quiet them very quickly! :yelwink2:
An opposing QB is allowed to tell the referee that he cannot hear, and the ref will stop play and give a warning to the stadium.
annnnnd if they ever tried that, we'd just make more noise. Can't quiet down Beaver Stadium. Especially when beating down Ohio State.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA:sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :bncry: :bncry: :bncry: :bncry: !!!!!!!! IT'S NOT FAIR!!!! SEC TEAMS HAVE FANS THAT GET LOUD AND WE CAN'T HEAR THE CALLS!!!! WE'VE GOT LARGE STADIUMS AND OUR CROWDS DON'T BOTHER THE OTHER TEAM!!!!!" You sir are a perfect example of reason #34 of why the SEC is the greatest conference in the land
Well now that's just a silly post, PodKATT. The SEC isn't the only conference in the country with loud crowds. Come to Beaver Stadium on a Saturday Night to find out (this weekend, actually )........and he was being sarcastic about us "not making any noise"
so should be having to watch the big 10, but i guess we will unfortunately have to wait til the winter meetings.
And noisemakers aren't allowed in the stadium but I still have to hear those dang cowbells at every Moo U game. I think that just means the band can't play at certain times -- not that the fans can't make noise.
They did that one game in Tiger Stadium in the 1980's after that rule went in. The crowd got a warning, but they just got louder. The QB complained and the official threw the flag and walked off 5 yards against LSU. The crowd just got louder, so the QB complained again . . . and the offical told him to play ball. It has never been called again in the SEC to my knowledge. It's a stupid rule and impossible to enforce without making the officlals walk the ball down the field 5 yards at a time for an entire drive--patently ridiculous. They officlals are not fools and they just don't call this one. Hell, they don't even enforce the rule aginst artificial noisemakers at Mittibbi State.
The officials at the Tulame game went up to our directors and drum major and warned them that if we were playing anything after the play clock started, LSU would get flagged.
