I'm really interested to see how he calls the game. We've had this argument for years about Jimbo when under Saban and Miles, that the play calling got real conservative against the big teams.

No one knows whether this was Jimbo reigning himself in or if it was Saban and Miles. Well maybe with Crowton we will finally get the answer.

If Crowton opens it up and mixes it up really good we will know that Jimbo was the one that got tight during the big games. I think Miles probably has more confidence in Crowton considering his experience and his reputation for high flying offenses.

It will be really interesting and I can't wait.

I really thought LSU used the same formations way too much under Jimbo. I liked Jimbo and he did very well for us, but I think in the big games it was Jimbo that got conservative.

    Thoughts?

I like him! I was gald to see Jimbo go.

Crowton runs the type offense that not only will help us put up big numbers but also will help in attracting big recruits. The offensive stars want to go to a college that puts up big numbers, well Crowton is a big number guy. Look what he did at Tech.

I think we are gonna see an offense like we've never saw before!

We all knew Jimbo would move on someday – he had several chances but said he never felt the timing was right. I hope my feeling about Crowton is correct – I think he will mix up the play calling and open up the offense a bit more than Jimbo. Crowton’s experience at non SEC programs is a big plus – I think/hope.

Anyway, after we had Jimbo for what – 6 or 7 years – it will be interesting to see what Crowton does with the talent LSU has on the offensive side and how his offensive play calling does against SEC defenses.

It won't matter either way if CLM contintues to take over the play calling in the second half as he has done on many occasions.

Miles inherited Jimbo and I dont think they were really on the same page all that often. Crowton is hand picked by Miles and they will have a better working relationship. Im sure Crowton will be calling the plays as discussed with Miles and the game plan they agree upon. I dont expect to see Miles "taking over" like he seemed to do with Jimbo.

Look for Crowton's offense to be pretty successful this year. It usually is the first year he is anywhere. It will be new to our opponents and should keep them off balance because they have nothing to scout except this years games. I dont think we will see the entire package against MooU either. They will be holding some back for VT.

Crowton has big shoes to fill, Jimbo had nothing but good seasons here. But Crowton has even better credentials than Jimbo. He'll do alright.

The question is . . . can he get a new QB and a new offense to gel by game two? We can have an error-prone fumblerama against State and get away with it probably. But the Virginia Tech defense will nail us if the offense ain't clicking by then.

I'm looking forward to seeing Crowton's offense. I think it will be more open and mixed up than Jimbo's. Jimbo was good but predictable a lot of times.
I think Crowton and the offense will be really good.

My only worry is the offense learning the playbook and executing it to perfection, plus we have some players that have to step up to fill in for Bowe, Davis, Russell.

My other worry is the O-line. We have to be able to run and the O-line is essential for this.

If you really want to guage Jimbo's capabilities, just watch FSU this year. I doubt that Bowden will override him very much, not with the lackluster offensive performance of recent Seminole teams.

I wouldn't expect to see the air show that put Crowton on the map, but I also don't expect things to be quite as conservative as they have been around here for a few years. The thing that I didn't like about Jimbo was not his predictability outright, rather, it was his predictability in certain formations. I expect to Crowton to run a lot of different plays from very similar formations. I think that he will do a good job setting up the running & passing games with one another. That was another area where I thought that Jimbo fell somewhat short.

I think this will be one of the most interesting questions answered coming out of the MSU game. With the passing weapons we had last year, I still shake my head thinking about the Auburn game, and all those ineffective runs. When we finally started throwing the rock, we moved much better.

I think Crowton will be a step up from Fisher myself, that's my guess. It remains to be seen, and we'll see tomorrow night. :geauxtige

I agree houtiger and with the rest of you. I think it will be fun to watch the OC.

Crowton had no running game at TTech and nothing spectacular at Oregon, but he comes here and has more weapons than he has ever had.

Hopefully the running game will be really good in conjunction with the O-line so that he will have a lot of opportunities to mix the run and pass unlike he could do in his past teams. I can't wait to see.

I worry more about the O-line than the OC.
