I've tallied all of this year's statistics to compile an ongoing ranking system based on points scored vs. points allowed, and overall record not including the post season (bowls or SECCG) for all SEC teams since 2000. Results for the 2005 regular season can be found at http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=43833 Example: Team (Record: Average record, (season points scored minus season points allowed)) Overall 7 year ranking based on average record (average score margin is a tie breaker): Champion: LSU! (Record: 9-2, 161) Previously 2nd. 2nd: Florida (Record: 8-2, 169) Previously 4th. 3rd: Georgia (Record: 8-2, 137) Previously 1st. 4th: Auburn (Record: 8-2, 136) Previously 3rd. 5th: Tennessee (Record: 8-3, 99) Previously 5th 6th: Arkansas (Record: 7-4, 73) Previously 6th 7th: Alabama (Record: 6-5, 75) Previously 7th 8th: S. Carolina (Record: 6-5, 28) Previously 9th 9th: Ole Miss (Record: 5-5, 5) Previously 8th 10th: Kentucky (Record: 3-7, -68) Previously 11th 11th: Mississippi St. (Record: 3-8, -95) Previously 10th 12th: Vanderbilt (Record: 2-8, -91) Previously 12th. Overall 7 year ranking based on average score margin: Champion: Florida - 169, Previously 1st 2nd: LSU! - 161, Previously 2nd 3rd: Georgia - 137, Previously 3rd 4th: Auburn - 136, Previously 4th 5th: Tennessee - 99, Previously 5th 6th: Alabama - 75, Previously 6th 7th: Arkansas - 73, Previously 7th 8th: S. Carolina - 28, Previously 9th 9th: Ole Miss - 5, Previously 8th 10th: Kentucky - -68, Previously 10th 11th: Vanderbilt - -91, Previously 12th 12th: Mississippi St. - -95, Previously 11th LSU has taken first in the overall ranking from Georgia last year, because of Georgia's poor 2006 results versus LSU's consecutive 10 win seasons. Georgia falls to 3rd behind LSU and 2006 SEC Champion Florida, with Auburn at a razor thin 4th place, separated only by a point in the score margin from Georgia. Tennessee improved its point margin average but not its record, to remain at 5th. Arky improved both its average record and point margin from a strong 2006 season but still remained at 6th. South Carolina, previously ranked behind Ole Miss, improved from 9th to 8th due to Ole Miss' poor 2006 showing, thereby dropping the Rebels to 9th. Kentucky improved while MSU worsened, causing the wildcats to improve to 10th, while MSU fell to 11th. Vandy, despite an average improvement in its record and point margin this year, remained at 12th, although they improved to 11th in the point margin rankings. I realize this is probably mind numbing to those without a single minded attention to detail, but I was bored at work. I think for next season's rankings I may eliminate the 2000 season, because as I keep adding more seasons, the less the rankings will change (kinda the same reason why it sucks to be in school for too long.) :geauxtige
