It was annouced on radio that by early this afternoon contraflow would be initiated on the interstate system, just like for last year's storms. All traffic from New Orleans will be outbound on the interstates.

    THE VERY LATEST :thumb: :thumb:

HURRICANE CENTER LOCATED NEAR 24.5N 85.0W AT 27/1500Z
    POSITION ACCURATE WITHIN 10 NM

PRESENT MOVEMENT TO THE WEST :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: OR 275 DEGREES AT 6 KT

Don't run west on the interstate running away from this one. :dis:

I ain't moving out of SE LA. This one is headed for Texas, maybe western LA, maybe. But it's a crazy one (turned south to hit Miami)

People can always return. If you wait too long, they'll be stuck. You have to start the evacuations early or it will bottleneck with everyone trying to leave at the same time. Then, people like you would be criticizing the decision to wait.

Panicking? Bro, study after study after study shows it takes upwards of 72 hours to effectively evacuate New Orleans.

Would you want to have the needless deaths of people on your watch if you could avoid it by being responsible and ordering evacs? Given the storm strength and projected path, it'd be highly irresponsible to not do this at this time, what with projected landfall less than 60 hours away.
