I just saw Miles press conference, I think he might just be my new boyfriend:lol: , I almost fell out of my chair just now. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
Well, yeah, I'd love him if he chose to stay at LSU, if he had said how, although Michigan is his dream job, he has fallen in love with LSU, the greatest program on earth, and that he wants to retire here. But instead he just gave this short, vague, and confusing statement. Didn't really answer my questions. He didn't clarify whether is he just staying our coach for this game or whether he is returning next year. He didn't say anything about having an agreement for a contract extension or anything. He seemed all pissed off, like the CBS announcers said "terse." Was he pissed because he wanted to talk to Michigan after the game and not before? Or was he pissed because he wants to get back to preparing for the game? Why didn't Skip Bertman say anything?
"I'm the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach of LSU." What is confusing about that? He has a game to prepare for and will answer questions after the game. Would you rather him stand there and answer all your questions 2 hours before kickoff? Have you not read all the reports with direct quotes from Skip, O'Keefe and BOS members?
I loved the smirk on his face when he said have a nice day. It was like put that in your pipe and smoke it.:milesmic:
Yeah, you're right. I just saw it for a second time -- CBS just cut from the Army Navy game to show Miles saying "I'm the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach of LSU," and he said it very strongly like he meant it. So my next question is, did he turn down Michigan? Or did Michigan turn him down? If he turned down Michigan, that would be huge for his reputation here at LSU as well as huge for LSU's reputation in the world of college football.
Well if you watched the Army/Navy halftime show, they thought Michigan shot themselves in the foot in the way they went about their coaching search before the season was over. I think all the distraction the Michigan talk was causing pushed him to make a decision. According to one thing i read, the agreement in principle was made yesterday.
I would bet that some of the details of his contract extension are still in play - possibly based on the outcome of today's game - so he didn't want to say too much about it. Also, CLM just isn't the smoothest fella on his feet. I think he probably thought he WAS being clear. Jim Varney of the TP told ESPN news the same thing. If he was purposefully mincing words because a move is still possible, he's going to get a TON of crap from all quadrants for being too cute. But I don't think that's the case.
All interesting questions that none of us probably have any answers to right now. IMO, they had talks, either directly or indirectly. I have no clue if the job was offered. Honestly, I can't believe he would turn it down.
