"De-commit" and why it keeps Mack Brown awake at night

National signing day is Wednesday and by Thursday morning college football coaches will be able to stand upright again. They have been made to crawl for two months by teenagers fast enough to run down rabbits and strong enough to lift a VW by the back bumper.

Actually, the coaches have been made to do worse than crawl. They have had to spend more money to re-recruit a kid who announced one day for U, but two days later declares for State.

The word the coach hates most is the word you will not find in the dictionary or on your spell check.

    De-commit.

The top-rated high school quarterback in the country, Ryan Perrilloux, committed to Texas.

A year later, Perrilloux was visiting Mississippi State, entertaining Florida State coach Bobby Bowden in his home, and giving second thoughts to LSU. He found out others loved him, too.

Perrilloux is wavering on Texas and eyeing the Tigers.

Have you looked at Rivals, not only did they remove Perilloux from their commit list check out his list, it has LSU high and UT Medium....

I wonder what spawned that, last night it was both LSU and UT equal and UT committed.

    Stange.

Wow the UT fans are showing their class.
"What Perriloux has apparently done goes way beyond simply chaning his mind. He lied to our coaches less that a week ago and reaffirmed his committment 100% when he apparenly was recruiting for L$$$$$U. That is deceptive and underhanded and shows that he has huge character flaws. I will never wish Perriloux one bit of luck on or off the field"

I always love how other schools call us cheaters etc etc if we get any recruits..
Funny all the recruiting stories in the SEC and not once has LSU been even mentioned, even in the Alabama trial, UGA, UK, Bama never LSU but for some reason these bozos put dollar signs.
UT is the funniest, they have more drug problems on that team in 3 years the LSU has had in 10, tack on Ricky Williams and they have 3 players in recent memory with drugs...
A&M has had 9 player arrests. Yet LSU cheats. Always amusing.

I still think RP goes to UT.

A representative from Rivals what as Bennet's announcement last night. Allegedly he saw a text message from RP to Bennet urging him to commit to LSU. Rumor only of course.

This has got to make Mack cringe. He doesn't have a backup to Young. Young is a runner, as such, subject to injury. Texas shot a blank in QB recruiting last year. The burnt orange faithful have got to be nervous.

    They should be in meltdown.

Texas should have changed coaches. Brown will continue to be the guy who never quite makes it to the top with more than enough talent to get there.

RP could also still pull a real stunner and become a literal god on the MSU campus.

less than 24 hours and counting...
  9. HatcherTiger Freedom Isn't Free

He could also still formally commit to Texas.

Good point hatcher, most people are starting get way to excited....

Could it be that RP may pull a MB and surprise everybody by going with aTm???

That is strange the TexasRivals took him off their list. What have they heard?
On Rivals 100 UT is still on the list. Although LSU is top and UT is 2nd.

I know the Orange Horns are pissed though. They lost MB to A&M of all teams and now RP is probably not coming!! The 2 guys that flashed "Hook'em Horns" at the All star game. HAHA!!! This is hillarious:hihi:

Of course I would be pissed too. It's so good to be on this side after losing our coach, worrying about the incoming coach, OC's and DC's and now it is looking really good. All the signs point to RP coming to LSU and the possibility of Campo being our DC. This would be great.

Maybe I'm the only one that saw it, but I think RP hired a sky writer to spell LSU over the Houston skyline today, as a subtle reminder of his intentions...either that, or I dozed off at work this morning and was dreaming!

And I agree, UT Fans are melting down b/c they lost a recruit? You don't see this level of incredulence when they lose a GAME!

Let me ask a question. J. Russell was a true freshman for the 2004 season right?

Well he wasn't in 2004 recruiting class but in 2003's class. What happened to the 2003 fall season?

I was just looking at the past classes and I think I'm missing something. Also they have Flynn listed as running a 4.53. I didn't know he was that fast. How fast was Mauck?
  14. Randy70 New Member

Wrong. J. Russell was a redshirt freshman this past season.
  15. TejasTiger New Member

Yep, Russell spent all of the National Championship season wearing a ball cap on the sidelines, waiving a towel to get the crowd fired up and clapping after Matt Mauck threw TDs.

Both Russell and Flynn were redshirted that season.
  16. JP4LSU New Member

    My bad. I can't believe I didn't know that.

You know I would be pissed if I was a UT guy and I would also say that RP handled it wrong too and that a guy shouldn't leave a coach hanging till the last day to decide. I'm tired of the grandstanding these guys do and the way they do it because it hurts the potential of recruiting someone else for that position. I don't care for the way it goes down.

But the vitriol coming out of the UT forums is ridiculous. I wouldn't be happy but some of the crap they say is just stupid. But who know's how we would react if we got screwed like that by 2 different players.

In feeling good about RP coming to LSU, he will probably go to MSU. If this happens you guys will get to see if I'm a hypocrite or not. I might be in here cursing up a storm tommorrow. Hehe!

alot of people have straight line speed.. its how well you keep that speed moving through traffic that makes the difference.. RP has moves, dont know if Flynn does...

In Highschool, Flynn was very elusive & good at avoiding tackles in the pocket, but not a running threat.
  19. AtlantaBengal New Member

Just looked up Flynn's numbers when he was recruited in 2003:

    Height: 6-foot-2
    Weight: 216
    40-yard dash: 4.53
    Bench: 250 lbs.
    Squat max: 390 lbs.

By comparison, Alley Broussard was listed as running a 4.5 in the 40 and JeMarcus Russell was listed as running a 4.7

Also, RP is listed as 6-foot-2 , 207 lbs. and was clocked at 4.5 in the 40
