LSU Assistant: I'm Coaching Special Teams ... 2004-12-20 [Miami Herald] According to several sources within the Dolphins coaching staff, LSU assistant Derek Dooley and Dolphins defensive nickel package coach Bill Lewis spoke last week and during the conversation Dooley inquired about the talent on Miami's roster. Dooley made it clear to Lewis he wanted to know about Miami's players because he would be coaching the Miami special teams once Saban is hired as the Dolphins head coach. The conversation so incensed Lewis, he quickly terminated the call and promptly relayed the story to other Miami assistants before a staff meeting. Dooley could not be reached for comment, but denied the incident through an LSU spokesman. A Saban source confirmed Lewis and Dooley spoke but denied Dooley projected himself as the next Dolphins special teams coach. http://www.finheaven.com/news/1708/ If Saban leaves it looks like he will be bringing DD with him. Hopefully he won't take Will Muschamp.
Old news. You didn't need to open a new thread to tell us something that has been posted several times in other existing threads.
I smell a rat. I don't have any inside knowledge of the situation, but this "story" smells like a plant, a way to engender resentment against Saban by a staff that knows its days are numbered if Bates does not get the job. It's been reported already the dissention in the Dolphin rank and file about Saban, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're trying to massage the media to cast NS as the villain.
Why would Dooley call the Dolphins special teams coach? That is beyond stupid (since nothing official has been announced, other than Saban had a "preliminary" discussion with the fins) or he is an arogant SOB. :dis:
I was merely trying to provide selfless service to others. I only counseled you out of a sense of selfless service to the LSU Tiger community at large. You think I've been clicking every fifteen minutes on TF just to find out some good news or something??!! You must think that LSU football is the most important thing in my life. Well, Buster, you AND my wife are both wrong about that.
Does anyone read before they post anymore??????:nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: PS. Nick Saban interviewed for the Miami Dolphins head coaching job.
Do you know how impossible it is to read every Saban thread to find out if something has been posted?
This story has been debunked by Saban and the Dolphins asst. presumably involved. Nick gave a statement today that Dooley told him it wasn't true, and that he believed him. A dolphins spokesman said that Lewis had not talked to any LSU coaches. TB.com
