I think we got them!!! :geauxtige DUKE vs. LSU, ATLANTA REGION Coach John Brady's team is young but very athletic. Duke is one of the favorites to make the Final Four, and Coach K has the nation's best duo in J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams. The Blue Devils, in their ninth straight Sweet 16, want to go to their third Final Four in six years. LSU has a big man to compete with Williams: Glen Davis, called Big Baby, has had a great tournament so far, including 21 points in the second-round win over Texas A&M. Davis has scored in double figures in 37 straight games, and he joins Tyrus Thomas to provide a one-two punch up front. Darrel Mitchell hit the game-winning trifecta against the Aggies, and he is dangerous, too. LSU's athletes can negate some of Duke's ability. Duke has received a boost from Josh McRoberts, who had a double-double (14 points, 13 rebounds) against George Washington. This is not going to be an easy game for the Dukies. When all is said and done, though, coach Mike Krzyzewski's team will find a way to win. Remember, Duke was challenged by Boston College in the ACC tourney finals. But the Blue Devils have a winner's mentality that makes all the difference in the world.
So, are we to infer that LSU was never challenged on their road to the SEC Conference title and to the Sweet 16?
I am pretty sure in some analysts eyes, LSU has done an amazing job for their first year of Div 1-A basketball. Basketball as a whole has grown this year since it expanded past the ACC, Big East, and Big 10.
I remember back in the 90's when Vitale picked the Running Rebs to beat the Blue Devils, as they were known back then, to beat Duke. That may be the last time he's ever thought Duke was gonna lose.
'Duke Vitale'...LMAO! WTF is this BS about 'winner's mentality?' Like LSU has a 'loser's mentality?' Hello? It's collegiate athletics. To advance to that level, you've got to be one competetive SOB. I guess he means that Puke thinks they're going to win, so that makes all the difference.
I'd have to think if we weren't LSU fans, most of us would be picking Duke to win too. It's a two way street. It would be like if Kentucky football came out of nowhere one year and all of a sudden was highly ranked and they were set to play LSU and Kentucky fans were upset that Corso was picking LSU to win. Let's face it, the powerhouse usually get's the benefit of the doubt. Should be no surprise here. Our boys just have to go out and shock the world (so to speak)
Duke does have a winners mentality and that comes from coach K. Duke proves this year in year out. No homerism here, just objective observations.
