1. The LSU beat writer for Gannett Newspapers is doing his best to aggravate Tiger fans once again, but in the process just continues to show that he's got a bug up his a$$ for LSU in general.

What the idiot doesn't realize is that it's people in his (ill-chosen) profession that are making all of the predictions. "Most people who follow LSU regularly" fully realize that the road to #1 is fraught with hazards and games will be taken one at a time. What we do know is that he makes every effort to rain on any little gathering that might turn into a parade and moves one step closer to getting his ample behind whipped by a drunk fan one day.

  2. Guilbleaux has shown time and again that the only thing he can do, and not very well I might add, is stir sh*t. If the guy ever has an original idea, it will be his first. I acually laugh at his articles ( and therefore him ) when I happen upon them. Typical bottom feeder.
  3. OMG! is that pic really him? no wonder he's so anti-miles. miles turned him down.:hihi:

and i must say, it takes a really special "man" to spend most of an article ragging on one kids. what a couche.
  4. The idiot has a short memory. How many losses Florida had last year? How about LSU in '03?

Somehow in his mind, one loss excludes you from the MNC game. He's living proof that anyone can be a journalist.
  5. You know, I'd be more inclined to simply tip my hat in recognition of him being a go-against-the-grain curmudgeon (rile up the locals as a way to get readership) if he wasn't a blatant Paul Finebaum rip-off.

Dildeaux: so predictable, so stale, so unoriginal.

PS-Dildeaux sez no NC this year, then proceeds to say LSU can be a 1-loss team. Since a 1-loss won the NC just LAST YEAR...:dis:
  6. EVERY team has holes EVERY year. If LSU has no shot at the NC, then why does USC? You can nitpick any team. He criticizes Flynn for not having a lot of pressure in the Peach Bowl. Gee, football's a team sport...I almost forgot. Also, the comment regarding Flynn coming into the SEC champ game for Russell is just unfair. Pro QB back-ups have the same sort of difficulties. Some of the article is fair, but the analysis is non-specific. Many of the Tigerforum posters could run rings around this guy.

Far be it for LSU fans to show excitement and anticipation. Most sports journalists are calling it like they see it...and they see LSU as a real contender...at least at the present time.

Otherwise, he entitled to state any STUPID opinion he wants. It's safe to write such criticism. If LSU wins the NC, he will say congats and they did well filling the holes I noted. If LSU has a less than stellar season, then he says...See, I told you so.

What's his opinion worth. A grain of a grain of a grain of salt.:dis:
  7. i dont get it. what's wrong with what he wrote? he didnt specifically say he was referring to fans or to LSU fans, unless you think its only hot and humid in the summer in La., in fact i think he was referring to the media. he disagrees with the high ranking given lsu by the bham paper and the sporting news, etc. cant really fault a guy for saying a team will be great but wont win the NC can you?---or is it just because this guy has a history?

seems to me he has valid points. who knows if they are right---we'll see. i think flynn will do fine. i think this mostly because he's 5th yr sr and will have a solid running game and a helluva D. but does anyone know the last time a team won a NC with a first year starting qb?
  8. Possibly. LSU has a championship defense, but the offense is untested.

Everybody realizes that Flynn will not start game one looking like Russell in the Sugar Bowl, it may take a while for the offense to gel under him. But he carries far more experience than a sophomore.

All these things are true. However absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. All things considered, LSU has better talent than most of their opponents. There are likely several breakout players on that list of untested Tigers.

Maybe. Still, LSU has a better shot than most teams who have far worse problems and more holes to fill than we do. LSU's defense is good enough that the offense may not have to score too many points to win.

LSU's defense has allowed an average of 13.7 points a games over the last four years and returns 8 starters and the DC. In this century LSU's offense has averaged 29.7 points a game, under great quarterbacks (Russell), good quarterbacks (Davey, Booty), average quarterbacks (Mauck), and poor quarterbacks (Randall). LSU posted 40 under Flynn in his only start. LSU has not posted worse than a 24.9 season in that period. I don't expect a huge drop-off in offensive production.

  9. I frequently don't care for Guilbeau for the reasons most have stated, but that wasn't one of his really bad columns. In fact it was fairly measured and even, for him. His focus on Flynn being a largely unproven QB is not inaccurate. I have faith that Flynn will do a good to great job, but he didn't play incredibly well last season during fill-in time. Not bad, just not as well as the hype from the 2005 Peach Bowl would lead you to believe he should. Granted, that's not a complete and accurate picture of Flynn either since garbage time tends to include a mix of starters and backups who aren't as crisp as the full first team would be. Still, Guilbeau's point that the one full game Flynn has played was an atypical game is a valid one, as is his observation of Flynn's performance the month before in Atlanta.

It's also no secret that we're looking for someone to step up at WR with Doucet. I find the RB evaluation a little less convincing given KW's performance down the stretch games of 2006.

  10. The point of the thread was a comment on Dildeaux's pattern of pooh poohing any positives about the LSU football program. Granted, he has some valid points, but nothing that anyone of us doesn't already know just from being a fan. He states the obvious in order to take a shot at Les. That's a fact.
