1. Granted that this 2005 team has all the talent in the world, but the 2000 team had some pretty talented guys as well. The following are all Dinardo's recruits that Saban inherited.

The only reason I am posting this is to dispute some of the posts that Saban came to LSU without any talent.

    Rohan Davey

    Trev Faulk

    Bradie James

    Josh Reed

    Domanick Davis

    Jarvis Green

    Louis Williams

    Robert Royal

    Howard Green

    Damien James

    Ryan Clark

    Lionel Thomas

    LaBrandon Toefield

    Rodney Reed

    Donnie Jones

    Plenty more....
  2. The knock on Dinardo was never his ability to recruit, if I recall correctly. It was that weak ass defense. There was a decent amound of talent in Baton Rouge when Saban took over, though we werent as loaded as we are now. Dont forget about Thomas Dunson...
  3. I agree with you, but that wasn't my point. Dinardo was not the focus of this. I was responding to a bunch of different posts that went something like this:

TFPOSTER1: Les Miles Sucks... Saban is god...

TFPOSTER2: Don't forget Saban lost to UAB.

TFPOSTER1: Saban didn't have any talent when he came here.

JoeReckless: Read this thread and let me know if you still think Saban didn't have any talent when he got here.

It should be noted that in Saban's first year he recruited the likes of:

    Chad Lavalais

    Corey Webster

    Travis Daniels

    Devery Henderson

And many others that helped the tigers flourish..
  4. Its not a matter of the talent that was here when saban got here.. its a matter of how well that talent was developed... you can have all the 5-stars in the world but with no coaching they wont go anywhere...
  5. Maybe this post should be a sticky, because about 400 TFers love to say, "Well, the difference between Miles and Saban is that there was no talent when Saban got here."

Oh, and "the sky is falling, my life is over."
  6. NOT THE POINT!!! :angryfire :angryfire
  7. So you're saying that Saban wasn't capable of developing Dinardo's players into good players in one or two years but he was his own basically. I disagree.

Anyway, the comparisons to Saban will never end which is stupid because Saban left of his own accord. It's not like he was pushed out in order for us to hire Miles. If anyone wants to compare Miles to another it should be one of the other candidates or possible candidates.
  8. Well, Saban did inherit a good bit of talent because Dinardo recruited well after he took over. These guys were recruited when LSU was good and when they committed to LSU, LSU had a bad season. That won't change all their minds to move on elsewhere. Saban did have a lot of talent, but not as much as Miles.

I must admit that I may have over reacted after the 1st 2 games because of expectations and the high talent/potential level. But I believe I was not upset with the way the taught the players but the mind numbing pitiful coaching during the game. That is what lost us the UT game and almost the ASU game. However, I see improvement in the DC coaching and the offense with exception to turnovers and penalties. I think Miles has done a pretty decent job if I ignore the 1st 2 games. Those games were all down to coaching mistakes and bad play calling.
  9. Good point! Because if you'll remember, last year under Saban, this same talent wasn't developed. It's not like Miles walked into a goldmine of Heisman winners - he walked into a scene with a team full of potential that SABAN had not yet developed.

  10. I think you've been smelling your friends butt again..... :hihi:

I'm certain Saban developed 99% of the players that are getting the PT this year. All most all of the guys playing were under Saban for the last 2-3 years. Do we have any true freshman that start? This is 100% Saban's recruits and I'm certain he "developed" them......
