I don't care if they know the numbers on my phone.

This is a Bush administration program. Clinton isn't president anymore, who cares about him? He can't hurt us.

The NSA has probably been spying on us since the organization was formed. Your quarrel should be with the organization itself rather than what Bush wants to use it to do.

Backwards. The NSA does important work and I favor their existence, but it has traditionally been overseas surveiling our enemies. This domestic telephone tracking program began after 9/11 and is a Bush administration program.

I don't like it one bit. The government is making a mockery of the basic tenets of our country, and that seems to be the most devastating impact of a pack of ragheads crashing our planes.

I think it's naivete to sit here and claim that the NSA (CIA) hasn't been spying domestically since the respective organizations were founded.

That's seems like quite a big scope of activities to have remained secret this long. Look how quickly this story has spread. And don't for a minute think it's just because people don't like Vladimir errrr George Bush.

Even if they have been spying on Americans for years, does that make it OK?

No, but Bush didn't completely deny it yesterday with his comments. If this database didn't exist, the gov't would have been quick to say so. All he said was that they aren't listening to domestic phone calls. He said they aren't "mining or trolling", but he didn't deny or confirm that they have collected this information.
