First of all, welcome to the forum! I have no doubt that they are being very cautious this year. However, it's been a very risky tactic. When most look at stats, they get disappointed. However, our turnover ratio is one of the best. in that respect, it's paying off.
I don't know if it's nervous, but they're definately being careful and I understand it. If JJ starts throwing INT's we'll have multiple problems: -The turnover itself -Another QB low on confidence :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Honestly, it hasn't looked pretty...but stats don't lie. JJ is doing pretty well...and had his career high in his last game. I think he's improving, and gaining confidence. With that will come more confidence from the coaches. - We're used to UGA being really good...and they really don't appear to be right now...especially in the secondary. Maybe this will be the week we open it up in the passing game. Then, maybe the running lanes will open!
Opening up the pass started in earnest against State and will continue against UGA, because Miles is well aware that right now the run is not going to move the chains or put points on the board on a consistent basis. They've eased Jefferson into the position as much as possible, it's time to turn the kid loose now.
Apparently, when you are 7-5 and in a bowl game. They've got to go all or nothing this week and set the pace for the rest of the season. This goes for the defense as well. They've GOT to get to the QB for a change.
