Does 'everyone' go to Starbucks almost daily?

I only get coffee at Starbucks if I'm traveling and looking for a place to sit and drink coffee with wi-fi. At home, I make better coffee than Starbucks for a fraction of the cost. Of course, I am notoriously frugal.

The people I know that drink several $4 coffees every day also wear $2,000 watches, get a new car every three years, own a house they will never pay off and have less retirement savings than I have in my checking account. The style-over-substance types.

I can't imagine living in Louisiana and not drinking coffee at all.

When I got my first job out of college about 14 yrs ago, my boss and a couple of the other management group were having a conversation about how their brains do not turn on until their first cup of coffee. They need it to get going every morning. I made a decision (similar to bhelm I think) at the time to avoid drinking it every morning and have to rely on it.

I drink coffee most work mornings. I like to have a nice coffee/chicory mix, but don't always do that.

I used to work right next to a StarBucks and I ended up down there alot. It was a break from the office setting and I could sit and sip coffee and look at cougars and shit.

I don't like to speak to clients until after I've had my coffee. I just feel like I'll come off rude.

That's the best they offer. It's a decent place to get free wi-fi and have an informal meeting/conference with a small group. What amazes me is the amount of money that kids spend at Starbucks. I see fairly young children who are either drinking very expensive hot chocolate or even small coffees with tons of milk/cream/whipped cream. I also see the Starbucks across the street from a local high school and you can't get near it either before or after school hours. These kids are spending hundreds each month on freaking coffee!

There are healthy things to eat and drink there but there are some serious pitfalls too.

Fuck Starbucks. Fuck em 5 times if you wish but please, pretty please, fuck em.

I live in one of those neighborhoods that is littered in mom and pop operations. We have a cafe, on the corner that has been in existence for over 40 years. It is the place Starbucks wants to be but can't because they are trapped in their corporate model that keeps all of it's partners on the same page, shitty music and all. Across the street, up goes a starbucks. Yunno, the perfect location directly across the street from ANOTHER COFFEE HOUSE...Like, maybe a week after opening their doors, the mayor rolls in with his po po escort (the ex-mayor lives in the neighborhood) and commenced to putting the NEW starbucks on the map. Like their ain't 700 other starbucks in this town...

I equate Starbucks to my days in grammar school. Remember back in the day when all of the cool kids had Nikes and your parents were too poor so you got Payless? That’s Starbucks for adults. Sure you can go and purchase a can of coffee for 7 bucks and some filters for 2. Sure you can wake up and pour water into a machine and then hit one button (that's me). But that just isn't cool and too many people will judge your choices.

Do starbucks people realize how stupid they sound? It’s like a language that only pretentious people speak. What the hell is a half calf double mocha latte sundae two espresso shots at 140? Do you know how redundant you sound when you order a non-fat frappuccino with extra whipped cream and chocolate sauce? Order a soy coffee quad with cream, not only do you get four shots of espresso (4!) you are also defeating the purpose of soy. Bizarre.

Venti Americano with room, although I do enjoy a good chai latte. I got a $50 gift card from work last year, so I have had more than my fair share.

It's trendy to bash on Starbucks. Anyone who thinks their coffee is terrible is a damn fool. They rank far above any fast food establishment first of all. What's good about Starbucks is the consistency. You're not always going to have access to your local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. If I make it at home then I will fall back to French Market, CDM or Community. If I find myself in South LA, then it's CC's all the way. For the rest of the world, Starbucks is pretty much the best most people will have access to.

Can only have so many vices, I'm going with a cold beer over boiling hot water that taste like crap. The only times I have ever drank coffee I'm pretty sure it wasn't even coffee anymore after I was done with it. At least 6 of those sugar packets and a spoonful or two of milk or creamer. Only thing I could do to make it taste decent.

Starbucks did something to this thread, either that or they paid google to do it. When I tried to leave the page I got a popup with a Starbucks ad.
