1. Looking at history,,,,,,,,,Notre Dame hasn't won a bowl game in a long time. Everytime they played a decent team this year, they were smoked. Who really knows? If you want to have the best chance of picking this game, go to the folks who do it for a living (the bookies). They make their living picking the winners and losers. IS ND any good? Their record is made up of beating mediocre teams. They had ONE good game this year. Brady Quinn ran up his numbers against CHUMPS!

    Schools that have won a bowl game since Notre Dame's last postseason victory, 24-21 over Texas A&M at the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 1994:
    Air Force, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Boise State, Boston College, Bowling Green, BYU, California, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colorado, Colorado State, Connecticut, East Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Fresno State, Georgia;
    Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Marshall, Maryland, Memphis, Miami, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri;
    Navy, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Texas, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, San Jose State, South Carolina, South Florida, Southern Cal, Southern Mississippi, Stanford;
    Syracuse, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Toledo, Troy, Tulane, Tulsa, UCLA, UNLV, Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Washington, Washington State, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

    I think these stat's say it all. Notre Dame stinks. I don't care about their "win one for the gipper" crap. The gipper's dead. Long live the Tigers.

    LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU!
  2. History of any games prior to this season is meaningless. We are playing the 06 Fighting Irish ONLY. Their record is not impressive. They have some talented players and a good head coach.

    Emotion plays a big role in college football. ND players are sick of folks saying they have no chance against LSU. They can use this as locker room material to motivate the team easily. They'll come out madder than a wet hen. They'll want to "prove" to everyone that they are better than the folks thought.

    If LSU is not ready to play, and equally motivated, like to finish in the top 3 in the country and post 2 consecutive 11 win seasons for the first time, we could easily be had.

    Yes, ND has a snowballs chance, IMO.

    It will be LSU's mission to come out and match their intensity or exceed it, for the full 60 minutes, with the character to persevere even if they fall behind early. Then we will win the day.
  3. Notre Dame is 10-2 with losses only to top-10 teams. They are certainly capable of winning under the right circumtances. LSU should win because LSU is better on offense and defense. But LSU is below average on special teams and the turnover ratio isn't impressive. If LSU turns it over and has special teams breakdowns, Notre Dame could take advantage of it.

    I personally think LSU will win by three scores or better, but Notre Dame has a lot better than a snowball's chance.
  4. You are CORRECT my man. It can happen. HOWEVER, I haven't seen any evidence that LSU is gonna give this one away. They've shown themselves to be highly motivated this year and pulled out wins in the last seconds on occasion. We are better offensively and defensively. We have better players. We have a record posted against nationally powerful teams (we've beat a couple chumps too).
    I think Weiss is a pretty good coach. I don't think he's proved to be a poor coach so far although there were times in his season that his team COULD have won and gave it away. In my humble opinion, this indicates a lack of motivation by the coaching staff to motivate players.
    I think Miles is the most underrated coach in America. I feel he should get alot more respect. He HAS brought his team back during tough times on the field. THAT speaks volumes. He only lost ONE game this year. Auburn was handed that win by the refs.
    BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it could happen. However, I DOUBT IT.

  5. LSU's defense will be the big difference in this game. I like LSU's chances in this game.

  6. I'd rather the Tigers not pull out wins at the last second, but instead turn up their offensive firepower and steamroll ND. The offense has got to take control of the game, and not give the ND offense the time to try to score.
    I hope the Tigers learned from the Ole Miss game not to be complacent.
    The LSU Defense will have quite a challenge in their hands to stop Quinn and his receiving core.
  7. Yes they do.
    In college football or even the NFL the other team is always capable of winning, bottom team much less a top team such as ND.
  8. What was LSU'S chances in the Peach Bowl last year? I think they have an excellent chance. When was the last time LSU blew out a ranked team. We struggled to beat Tennessee, Alabama, and Ole Miss this year so I don't have as much confidence as many are expressing. If Quinn and Smardzija ) are close to thir reputation I think ND will put some points on the board. Historically I seem to recall that we usually have trouble with the big physical OL of the northern teams with good quarterbacks. Iowa comes to mind.
  9. Miami was #9 when we blew them out in the game to which you refer. That
    is the last time LSU blew out a ranked team.:thumb:

    Also, ND's O line is one of their WEAKNESSES. Iowa had the best o lineman in the country on their o line.

    All this, and I still think ND has a chance, albeit a slim one.
  10. Hey, roygu!

    Great point! I'm worried about that big line, also. Just hoping LSU can disrupt Quinn early and often and get them to where they are passing every down.
    I don't want to see them establish any sort of rushing game.

    Notre Dame will pass likely almost 50 times in this game.

    Michigan jumped on Quinn early & picked a pass for a TD return and blew them out early. Michigan "3 and outed" them almost the entire first half. And, still, ND threw almost 50 passes in that game with only 30 yards rushing, pathetic! Not the same story against USC. They were able to run fairly well on USC. And, gain over 400 yards total offense on USC.
    They put up only around 250 on Michigan.

    Any team that puts up 400 yards on USC "has a chance" against LSU.

    LSU just needs to use the Michigan formula. Score early & often and let that defense tee up and tear Quinn and disrupt that ND passing attack up. They have those two senior WRs, just like LSU does. (McKnight & Samardzija).

    They seriously think they have a mismatch against our secondary with these two WRs.

    We'll see! If Quinn has little time to throw, it's gonna be all LSU.
