Status of Auburn linebackers Didn't see it posted here, but there was a lot of speculation about a month ago about whether Tray Blackmon and Kevin Sears would be back for the LSU game. Coach Tuberville announced today that their suspensions would be continuing 'indefinitely', and through the LSU game. I'm looking forward to another great game in the fastest growing rivalry in college football. Let's go out and play for the Western Division crown. :thumb:
Re: Status of Auburn linebackers Wow, Tubby showing some stones. Not bad. But I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I want to beat ya'll at full strength. On the other, I'll happily take any advantage that we can get. I certainly feel a lot better about our linebackers now than before the season started. Beckwith is turning out to be a monster.
Re: Status of Auburn linebackers It'll be interesting to see if the media will be more focused on Tennessee Florida this week instead of on the LSU Auburn game. We'll see what the national preference is between the two rivalries.
Re: Status of Auburn linebackers Were both of those LBs starters? I've heard of Sears, but I'm having a hard time remebering Blackmon.
I'm pretty sure Aub suspended a starting LB and someone else for 3 games (which includes LSU-Aub). Any word on whether their suspensions are really going to last? What's the line on Tuberville going back on that and activating them for Saturday?
The players you may be referring to were Kevin Sears and Tray Blackmon, both starting LB's. Sears had a DUI in the offseason and was rumored to be suspended for three games, including the LSU game. Tray Blackmon was charged with underage drinking, which in itself isn't that bad, but he failed to notify the staff and that got him in the doghouse (as I understand the situation.) TB was rumored to be suspended for "up to six games." I say "rumored," because both suspensions were reported by the B'ham news and the story was subsequently picked up nationally by ESPN, however, Tuberville never publicly stated the details of the suspensions. (details or term length) CTT did state that Blackmon could "earn his way back earlier" from the rumored six-game suspension, and my understanding is that he has been working diligently at both his studies and his practice work. To my knowledge, CTT never commented publicly on Sears. Auburn could desperately use the services of both players (especially Sears against LSU), but if CTT did indeed suspend them for the term lengths that were rumored, then I would expect both to be unavailable for the game. Neither player was on the travel squad that traveled to Starkghanistan. Even if you dislike Tuberville, you have to respect his stance toward the character building of young men ...... CTT is certainly no Diddy Bowden or Effin Shula ...... true 'dat.
well hello Cadillac. I will say this - I hope both teams are at full strength for Saturday, with no weird penalties or plays that decide the outcome of this game. It will be nice to have one for the ages to determine the true Champ of the South for this year, as I honestly think the winner of this one has a chance to do something special. Good luck to you and your boys from the plains.
luck to y'all to MT. I just hope both teams come out of this match unscathed, especially for such an early season game. Both teams play so physical that it could ruin the games that follow if either team suffers a key loss. (fingers crossed, knock on wood, Mother Mary...)
Re: Status of Auburn linebackers Blackmon, aka "Little Ball of Hate", was competing for the starting Will position and most felt he would take over the starter role by the 1st or 2nd game.
Re: Status of Auburn linebackers He is a redshirt freshman. Has not played a snap so far, but was assumed to be the starter coming out of the spring.
