I just can't ever get enough of Shaq...

Shaq returns to L.A., tweaks rookie Bynum

Shaquille O'Neal returned to Los Angeles recently with some colorful things to say — as you might expect.

O'Neal ventured back to his old haunts (where he played for eight seasons) to host a Hollywood auto show, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. And he promptly gave himself a new nickname: "Dr. Shaq."

The veteran center recently earned a master's degree from the University of Phoenix, and said he plans to earn his doctorate in psychology, criminology or sports psychology.

But has Shaq become an intellectual snob?

When asked about Andrew Bynum, the Lakers' 17-year-old draft pick, O'Neal told The Times, "Tell him Shaq doesn't respond to juvenile delinquents without a college degree. Tell him to get his degree and we can talk. In the meantime, he should call me Dr. Shaq because I'm working on my PhD."

As for basketball matters, O'Neal is entering the final year of a three-year contract extension he signed before the Lakers traded him. He is reportedly closing in on a contract extension with the Heat.

    Is Shaq worried?

    Not really.

"We understand business, and we understand leverage," said O'Neal, scheduled to make $30.6 million next season. "We'd just like to do it in a professional manner."

I think he's just happy that he has a college degree. I guess you can compare it to a 7 year old who got a new bike--he'll go around boasting the bike proudly. I also think that the "stab" against Bynum is appropriate. Kids these days just don't seem to see the importance in getting a decent education (what am I saying, I AM a kid.) Hell, I wish I could have used sports as a catalyst for a great education at a fine university. You the kid has enough talent to do that. Just my opinion, of course.

Better / Higher Education = Better Job

    Better Job = Better Pay

Better Pay = Hotter Women / Mating Opportunities with Hotter Women

It's all about the ladies when you break it down - and I can't blame a kid for skipping right to the hotter women...

Shaq has made his mark on basketball. It is important to get a college degree just for the maturity and the knowledge.

The U of Phoenix MBA is on equal footing with most MBAs. Which means in todays world it is utterly useless. Unless you got it from Harvard or Yale the MBA is a joke and people who try to get them or suckers.

How many times does he have to say stuff before people realize that he IS serious...

The dude can't seem to take a joke, but is always willing to give one to someone else...

Shaquille O'Neal is IMO the finest of LSU's famous alums. I think the message for Bynum was that he should've gone to school and not ventured to the NBA.
