ok bear with me. lets say kiper's projection of jamarcus as his #3 overall prospect in the draft (per my earlier thread) is consistent with what the decision makers for the nfl teams think.
i know kiper and the gm's dont always see eye to eye (i.e. polian vs. kiper on the trev alberts/trent dilfer pick). but if kiper is right, and jamarcus is rated that high, and with oakland or detroit getting the first pick...
lets say jamarcus has a huge game in the sugar, and our defense makes quinn look like garbage (very possible)...or if jamarcus simply outplays quinn...is it possible that jamarcus could be the first overall pick?

As fast as he's flying up the draft boards, I would say he could be the first QB taken. Every scout and their grandmother will be at that game. They will get to see both on the field at the exact same time. What better way to differentiate between the two.

I say JR will be the first rated QB in the draft if he has the game of his life and Quinn is made to look foolish more times than not.

The combines should be in JR's favor with the possible exception of the Wunderlich.

Vince Young didn't fare too hot on that test, and look at him now. Albeit, VY is a much better athlete than JR, but its just to make a point.

I am not an NFL scout or GM or head coach, so I have no idea how they value that test. My assumption is they take it with a grain of salt.

between russell and quinn at the combine, you have to figure russell would be more likely to see his stock rise. hes got the greater size and arm strength, and i dont think he's as slow as everybody thinks.
that would blow my mind if he went first, although i would be stoked for jamarcus if that happened. it seems more likely that one of the teams needing qb could trade down a few picks and still get him.

oakland and cleveland both said he'd be #1 on their draft boards, so it's more like if Cleveland wants him, they'll have to trade up.

Phil Savage, Cleveland's GM is a Mobile, Alabama guy (like Russell) and knows Russell really well. No doubt they would take a hard look at him.

It is actually a pretty good compliment that he likes Russell considering he was the scout for the Ravens that brought in Heap, Lewis, Reed, and 7 other Pro Bowlers.

i had no clue their gm was a mobile guy...

Here's your current draft order going into the last week of the season:

    1 Detroit........2-13 .133 .529
    2 Oakland.......2-13 .133 .546
    3 Cleveland.....4-11 .267 .533
    4 Tampa Bay...4-11 .267 .542
    5 Arizona........5-10 .333 .492
    6 Houston.......5-10 .333 .513
    6 Washington...5-10 .333 .513
    8 Minnesota.....6-9 .400 .479
    9 San Fran.......6-9 .400 .496
    10 Miami..........6-9 .400 .538
    11 Atlanta........7-8 .467 .458
    11 St. Louis......7-8 .467 .458
    13 Carolina.......7-8 .467 .483
    14 Green Bay....7-8 .467 .500
    15 Pittsburgh....7-8 .467 .508
    16 Buffalo........7-8 .467 .571
    17 Kansas City..8-7 .533 .492
    18 Jacksonville..8-7 .533 .525
    19 Cincinnati.....8-7 .533 .533
    20 Tennessee....8-7 .533 .567

    Playoff Teams

    (wildcard round losers)
    21 NY Giants.....7-8 .467 .529
    22 Dallas...........9-6 .600 .454
    23 NY Jets.........9-6 .600 .475
    24 Denver..........9-6 .600 .513

    (divisional round losers)
    25 Seattle.........8-7 .533 .446
    26 Philadelphia....9-6 .600 .479
    27 New England..11-4 .733 .504
    28 Indianapolis...11-4 .733 .508

    (conference championship losers)
    29 New Orleans..10-5 .667 .458
    30 Baltimore......12-3 .800 .471

    (super bowl loser and winner)
    31 Chicago........13-2 .867 .417
    32 San Diego.....13-2 .867 .458

I am assuming Giants, Denver and Jets win this weekend and make the playoffs. I will also assume all home teams win playoff games, and San Diego wins Super Bowl (just to finish the list in some kind of reasonable order).

The last column is a team's opponents winning pct. In the case of teams having the exact same W-L record, the team with the worst SOS is first, the team with the 2nd worst SOS is 2nd, etc. The thinking here is that a team that has a worse SOS must be worse than other teams with the same W-L record.
