The internet sports book that I use (Olympic) has LSU as the favorite to win the 2005 SEC Championship football game. For a $100 bet their payouts are as follows: LSU (+175), Florida (+200), Tennessee (+250), Georgia (+500), Auburn & Alabama (+800), S.Carolina (+1500), Arkansas (+1800), Ole Miss & Miss St (+5000), Kentucky (+7500), and Vandy (+25,000). Oddly enough, on their odds to win the Rose Bowl (BCS Championship) they list Florida (+1000) ahead of LSU (+1200). They have So. Cal as a strong favorite to win it all (even money). Miami next (+800). Florida & Ohio St tied for 3rd (+1000), LSU, Oklahoma, & Texas tied for 5th (+1200), Tennessee & Michigan next (+1800), Louisiville 10th (+2000), and Iowa & Georgia tied for 11th (+2500). Looks like Iowa is still not getting the respect they have earned.
Well, I'd take either odds any day, LSU's OR Iowa's. I mean it's all just speculation at this point anyway. Idk much about what Iowa has lost, or what they have coming back, but I know that that Tate kid is something special. Maybe Iowa being tied with UGA for 11th is kind of a bummer. Hell, I know Iowa could stomp the piss out of UGA.
LSU should be the odds-on favorite... especially with Tennessee, Florida and Auburn at home. (that's worth season tickets!!!) Thanks for the comps on Iowa, but we are happy with the odds. We have to prove ourselves early on at Ohio State... we'll be ready to talk (or not) after that one!! "what Iowa has lost".... two starters on offense (OLman and TE, both easily replaced... everyone else is back. On defense, our entire secondary is back, plus two linebackers, only Chad Greenway departs. We lose our entire DL, but we're quite deep with guys who saw good playing time. We'll miss Roth & Babineaux, but we like our chances. Be careful against Arizona State. We made one mistake after another in the desert, giving them added confidence and they smoked us, 44-7. It's good you get them AT HOME.... we'll be rootin' for ya!!
They needed a hail mary to beat us. Georgia murdered us on every level. Yes, Yes....UGA had their calenders marked and all that stuff....either way, I think UGA would have kicked their ass.
LOL, Marine... pls notice I made no comment on the UGA vs. Iowa statement. I think making statements based on different game scores, different opposition, etc., is a treacherous road to take. UGA has a very good program. We might have our hands full, as might they.... but thanks for the lack of respect. We'll have enough to worry about in our own conference next year... and we'll worry about "mythical match-ups" come bowl time.
Well then.....nevermind BTW 45, I was talking to JayB. There is no lack of respect on my part.....I don't feel Iowa is better then UGA this or next year.
I believe Lefors was a senior but what a job Petrino has done there. This might be their down year but I still think they are a solid bet. The SEC looks wide open in both divisions, should another good year of football games.
