By Pete Fiutak Saturday, October 15th - Florida at LSU Even with Steve Spurrier returning to the SEC, its hard to find more scrutinized new hires than Urban Meyer at Florida and Les Miles at LSU. This could easily be a preview of the SEC title game if the two can get over some major hurdles. Meyer's spread offense has worked wonders everywhere he has been, but can it work against defenses with extreme team speed like LSU has? Yes, but it won't be enough to get by the Tigers in one of the most exciting games of the first half of the season. Predicted score in early August: LSU 27 ... Florida 24 Oasis Line: LSU -2 Saturday, October 22nd - Auburn at LSU While Alabama will have something to say about it, the Auburn-LSU tussle will be for the SEC West title. Auburn won 10-9 on a late 16-yard touchdown pass to Courtney Taylor and was helped by a missed LSU extra point. Expect another defensive classic with the LSU defensive front seven doing a number on the Auburn running game. The mobility of the LSU quarterback, whoever that is, will be the difference avoiding the speedy Auburn pass rush. Predicted score in early August: LSU 14 ... Auburn 10 Oasis Line: LSU -3.5 Saturday, October 29th - Georgia vs. Florida Always one of the most hyped and anticipated games of the SEC season, the annual Cocktail Party will be even bigger with Urban Meyer getting his first chance to make a splash in the storied rivalry. The two will have each played Tennessee, but this is a more important game for Georgia in the SEC race with Auburn still to play (along with Kentucky), while Florida has easier games against Vanderbilt and at South Carolina. As experienced as D.J. Shockley is in practice time, he'll still have to prove he can step up in the really big games like Chris Leak has been able to. The Georgia secondary will be more than good enough to handle the Gator passing game, but Florida's pressure defense on Shockley will end up being the difference Predicted score in early August: Florida 20 ... Georgia 17 Oasis Line: Florida -2 http://collegefootballnews.com/2005/Predictions/Big_Game_Picks_Preseason_4.htm
Do they have LSU favored in every one of their games? They had LSU beating Tennessee as well, right? They forget to mention the BLOWN CALL that aided in Auburn winning the game last year. For as much expectations as we have of the offense, he sure doesn't have us scoring a whole lot of points. Especially the game with Florida - they have NO defense & so our score should be much higher & Meyer is getting so much hype that you'd think they would have their offense scoring higher as well.
i think he meant vegas/oddsmakers. yeah, LSU will be favored in all reg. season games barring any upset. then its factored in the folowing week's line due to public perception changing amongst other factors like maybe the team really sucks.
UF has won 13 of the last 15 games against UGA so I expect most to pick them. I could see our game vs. AU being close too. I do think Russell picking up experience will help him get much better as the season goes on
yeah me too but do you see his mobility to evade the speedy AU pass rush as the difference? :hihi: :hihi:
Im telling you guys, big qb's=good. you dont have to be fast to be a mobile qb. you have to be elusive. I think we were all okay with 950 lb rohan davey moving around... when you're an athlete, your athletic abilty doesnt just go away.. if anything the added weight will help him to stay in the pocket with more confidence in his body. plus, who doesnt want a guy that can throw for 300 yards and go to the buffet with the o-line and then throw back a 12 pack. jamarcus eat EVERYTHING!
i agree. I love all fat athletes. I was just referring to fiutak inferring all our qbs are very mobile. unfortunately, JR isnt fat. i really couldnt care less about his weight really. pocket passers suit me fine.
