My family medical insurance (Aetna PPO) has annual premiums of roughly 24k. My employer pays about 18k of that amount. I've been with the same company for 8 yrs and starting to look at other opportunities with the Houston economy doing so well at the moment. I can find openings with higher salary but the medical coverage (especially employer paid portion) seems to typically not be available until job offer stage. If anyone has a link with averages (specifically oil & gas if possible) or examples of your own coverage, I would appreciate for comparison purposes. I just came across one opening with a much higher salary but with a note of "employer subsidized health coverage of up to 2,500). Assuming that means an overall negative impact of 21,500 to my current situation (assuming overall cost is the same although I realize it can vary quite a bit).
Wendy's is cutting back on a lot of employees' hours to avoid having to pay their insurance under Obamacare. Dude's going to bankrupt this country and cripple everyone except welfare recips. He's gonna set a record for guns sold under any one president too, easily. Oh, I didn't capitalize the "P" word on purpose and won't when it refers to that cock-sucking bastard.
Obamacare sucks, obviously, but so does Wendy's for doing this. I know they shouldn't even be in the position to have to do it, but why take out the president's shitty decision on workers who are already struggling to survive. Guess those execs really wanted their bonuses this year, so of course, stick it to the little man. I mean, if you're in bad enough shape that you have to work full time at a fast food restaurant, the last thing you need is some jackhole executive taking away your hours. Total bullshit all the way around. Sorry to highjack the thread, but tiga started it.
Yes it is sad. Chain stores are nut cutting. Obama's raping wallets so people follow suit to offset what the government took. I worked at Delchamps a bit in Lake Charles back in the day. Every so many hours you got a raise. When meat-cutters got up to 14 bucks an hour they'd can 'em and hire two. Didn't think it was jackin the thread since it was about health ins. I didn't really understand what all 99 meant. Maybe because 99 didn't either. Not trying to be a dick but to since you called me on it I want to show I'm serious. Follow me... From 99: Now how the phuck someone with OCD is supposed to comment on all that "assume", "vary" crap.
What is the total medical insurance premium (annually) for family coverage with your employer? Of that amount, how much does the employee have to pay?
I pay about $400. I believe my employer pays twice that. So roughly $1200 a month for my entire family.
Mine is around 22k per year...through Blue cross blue shield. That is with a company that has over 25,000 employees.
The responses were helpful but think I'll need to do some more research. fanatic and gumborue had annual family premiums in the 14k range. My total is 24k, which I'm guessing is higher because we only have about 1,000 employees in the US (at the moment) and the plan is pretty good. I have no idea what the typical percentage of the employer subsidized portion would be. Two of my friends have their entire medical insurance paid by their employers but I think that is rare. I expect that the 75% portion picked up by my company is average or above-average.
