I am a HUGE yes too...

If a team wanted to be named the Fighting Gisclair's, I would be honored ... and most indians feel the same way...

It is the people who are on the outside looking in that cause the problems, b/c the tribes don't seem to mind very much.

    Braves, Seminoles, etc...

All these broad names are fine... but however, REDSKINS is a bit offensive to me...

Time will tell to see how this plays out

I don't even have a problem with the Redskins. In fact they are my favorite pro team and I lived in D.C. for several years. I grew up in Birmingham during the days of segregation. The black baseball team called themselves the Black Barons so they didn't have a problem with referring to their color. Heck next thing you know PETA will have a problem with us calling ourselves Tigers. :shock.
I just think the NCAA has really gone off the deep end.

I can understand why some may find Redskins to be insensitive, however, when the team's name is mentioned, no one conjures of an image of war painted savages. What they visualize is a football team.

NOT ONLY SHOULD INDIAN MASCOTS BE ALLOWED, BUT DISPLAYS OF TYPICAL INDIAN SAVAGERY (MOCK SCALPINGS & WAGON WOMEN ABUSE to cheerleaders, such as staged slap 'em arounds & dress/outfit tearings) SHOULD ALSO BE CONDONED, PRACTICED & HONED TO A FINE ENTERTAINMENT ART FOR THE SATURDAY THRONGS ACROSS THE LAND. :hihi:

Let's have them do it legally of course. Announce over the PA system that the following acts of savagery are a reenactment of ... whatever event occurred or was professed to have occurred in the past.

One year of revolt & scenarios across America like this and they'll be delighted to see a classy Osceola gallop across the turf waving his weapons (not swinging his  at a cute cheerleader after he's torn her outfit in a staged display)

Just my .02 worth. Take a stand on the NCAA fascists today.
