Did anybody hear the pitiful commentary by the ESPN crew for the LSU/Vandy game?? I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I was disgusted. First of all they would tell all these great stories for a few Vandy players, such as adoptions, etc, then they harped on one guy that got hurt during the game about his mental and depression troubles. They touched that subject 3 times. Then they said "Shame on you" for any LSU fans that were critical of Les Miles and his staff. Mentioned about websites devoted to Miles removal, etc. They kept on for about 2 minutes. Then right after they brought up the incident where a few drunks damaged UT's buses. All in all, by using an example of one website and one case of drunk fans misbehaving, he made us look like a bunch of spoiled brats, because we lost a game and that we were rowdy and uncontrollable at games. This crew really did us a disservice and I'm thinking of writing ESPN about it. With all the sappy stories from the Vandy side, they hardly mentioned the troubles LSU has gone through nor isolated a couple of stories about a player or two. I was just pissed about this commentary during the game. Did anyone else notice this.
I heard about the feel good Vandy stuff but must have missed or not have been paying attention to the bad LSU stuff. Sticks and stones I guess.
My thoughts exactly. Don't want people to say bad things about us, then we need to quit acting like "jerks".
They spoke of one website, the fire miles one (that's for that big guy...you do lsu proud), all of the forums and radio and tv were calling for the same thing. We deserved what we got, but he did harp on it too long. He also said a "very small number" when referring to the bus incident (which frankly has been blown out of proportion). If we dont' want that stuff to be talked about, we shouldn't start firelesmiles.com after 2 games.
I noticed it, and it was insulting to the LSU football players who have been through so much with Katrina. They accentuated the negative with regard to LSU . . . they could have told the story about how J Russell hosted Fats Domino, or some other "feel good" story about LSU, but they chose to do that for Vandy instead. This is irresponsible sports journalism. As for saying that I should be ashamed because I'm angry at the coaching staff for the last half of the Tenn game . . . well, I just have to laugh at the announcers for that stupid comment . . . because those guys defend any and all coaches who do badly . . . the list of bad coaches that the media has defended is too long to list here. Point of clarification: I haven't decided whether Miles/Pellini are a reprise of Dinardo/Tepper or not . . . it is too early to tell. Early indications are troubling, but we'll have to wait and see. When your head coach surprise-announces on Christmas Day that he's leaving for greener pastures, you are going to be playing catch up to hire a replacement staff in time for recruiting, and Skip probably did as well as can be expected for LSU under the circumstances at that time.
There is nothing wrong with criticizing a coaches play calling and schemes in games we should've easily won, especially the UT game. The majority of LSU fans disagreed with what the coaching staff did in the ASU and UT games. There is nothing wrong with that. Now the people that created websites calling for his head, sure that is overboard but these guys acted like everyone in LA wanted Les gone. Also, he made it look like all LSU fans were like those that pasted the UT buses. Yes it was true and yes many fans were not happy after the ASU and UT games but you can't paint a picture with a broad brush.
So, what we have here is the bitchers bitching about being called out as bitchers. The truth hurts, doesn't it?
