Wednesday, December 29, 2004 Associated Press LITTLE ROCK -- University of Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt withdrew his name from consideration for LSU's coaching vacancy Wednesday, saying he is content with his current job. LSU athletic director Skip Bertman asked Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles for permission to contact Nutt on Tuesday, and his request was granted. In a statement, Nutt said he was flattered to be considered. "I spoke briefly with LSU officials about the situation. At this time, I am very happy at the University of Arkansas. I plan on being the coach here for a very long time," he said. LSU is seeking to replace five-year coach Nick Saban, who accepted a job as coach of the NFL's Miami Dolphins on Saturday. Nutt said Tuesday that he would not go through a lengthy selection process. The decision marks the second time in as many years he has passed on an opportunity to leave Arkansas. He turned down the head coaching position at Nebraska after the 2003 season. Looks like Sexton and Nutt have got all the recruiting value and publicity they can out of this.
Actually this isn't an accurate statement. He didn't pass "on an opportunity to leave Arkansas". That implies that the job was offered to him. He passed on the opportunity to be considered for the coaching job at LSU, and maybe having an opportunity to leave Arkansas. But regardless, I'm very happy to hear this. I didn't want to see him considered. Don't know why I don't like him, I just don't.
