Everybody is hitting Miles pretty hard. Did anybody think Saban was a good hire. I surely didn't. Yeah it is easy to say now that Saban was the man for the job, but do not forget that we blew MSU out in the bowl game. Everybody that I knew said that Saban was a mistake. What about when Pete Carroll went to USC. The fans thought what a failure he would be. Sometimes you never know until somebody is given a chance. Skip saw something in the guy.
After I examined Saban's background by doing a little internet research, I was indeed please with the hire of Saban back in Nov 99.
Look, all of these comparisons have already been made, OK? Les Miles is now LSU's Head Coach. We're all behind him. Stop beating a dead horse already.
Pete Carroll was getting TORCHED by the media his first year at USC. I think they struggled to become bowl eligible and he said publicly something to the effect that "I can only do so mich with the players I have." Things change.
Everyone will say they thought Saban was good but at the time....I didn't hear one person I knew that liked it. Family, Friends, and/or ex-players
When Saban was hired I was very unhappy. I like Gerry D. He brought winning Tiger football to me. I was very against his firing. I even thought Teppers defense would work with the right players. I was proven wrong on every account, and boy am I glad. For those reasons I am optimistic about the Les Miles era.
