For the hardcore basketball fans who aren't in BR, could anyone who went to the hoops "midnight" madness kickoff report on what they saw? I understand 3,500 fans turned out for the hoops opening and volleyball game (which seems a little higher than past years). And, most of the night was pretty much fun and games, but I'd like to get a sense of the fan base (what the enthusiasm level was compared to last year), and the "talent" of the new players. I saw a few things reported by LSUsports.net that were interesting (and maybe hopeful)... First Tas did pretty well in the 3 point shooting contest (finished 2nd, and may have beat out D.Mitch). If Tas can really knock down a 3 pointer, we may be better off than I thought from the outside. Second, Chris Johnson (?) wins the slam dunk contest. A 6'11" guy who can dunk it jumping over Kentrell Gransberry? We may have a pretty athletic team afterall. Another thing I get from reading this weeks coach's media quotes, it seems like Brady may finally deviate from his seven man rotation theory, given how many new faces there are on this team. I think what you'll see is finally a 8,9 or 10 player rotation, which lends itself to more of a frenetic pace, more pressing, and all in all more players on the court (i.e., being happy with more PT, which I think was one of the reasons many people leave Brady's program b/c they don't see the chance to play). Thus, knowing what the likes of Garrett Temple, Ben Voogd, Tyrus Thomas, etc. can do would be nice. :geauxtige
That's correct, it wasn't his fault players couldn't stand playing for him and left like rats fleeing a sinking ship. It's put up or shut up time for Brady, he can't blame probation any more. I hope he puts together a dynamite team that crushes the rest of the SEC but I'm not holding my breath. :geauxtige :bball:
So after all those nice post can someone give us tiger fans that don't live in Baton Rouge anymore some insite on this years basketball team??
Wrong answer again by sabanfan. I would like nothing more than to be proven wrong. I want LSU to win every game in every sport no matter what my personal feelings about a certain coach or the direction one of the programs is heading.
lots of athletism for the guys - the can jump out of the gym. As for shooting, the girls did a better job - looks like this will still be a weakness w/the mens team
If we can go to the hole and get some FT's this year, it will help! We had no real slasher last year! The problem with that I guess is: WILL WE MAKE THE FT?
