1. I wonder what Thomas Jefferson might say about the way the health care bill got pushed through, with back room deals and votes bought through earmarks, all despite the fact that the majority of Americans did not want it? He might say:

    he might add:

I wonder what Mr. Jefferson might say about the thousands of Americans who stood up in protest against health care reform, people exercising their right to free speech who so many insultingly referred to as "teabaggers?" He might say:

    and then he might add....

And what might he say to those who celebrate another freebie to be given them by the government, at the expense of those who actually work?

What would he think of a law that compels citizens to do something that they should have the right to choose to do (or not to do) themselves?

And of these cases of Congressman feeling threatened after their unpopular vote, Mr. Jefferson, one of the principle voices behind the criminal act of taking up arms against the lawful government (we also call this the American Revolution), might remind them:

    2 people like this.
  2. is this supposed to be relevant somehow?

tj had a big part in how the gov works. if you dont like the health bill perhaps you should have a seance and complain to thomas himself.
  3. Here are a few more:
About 40% of the population don't pay taxes.

  5. The Income Tax System is Broken - CBS News
    Quote:
On April 15, don't be surprised if the line at your local post office is a bit shorter than usual. That's because your neighbors may not be paying any income taxes this year.

An astonishing 43.4 percent of Americans now pay zero or negative federal income taxes. The number of single or jointly-filing "taxpayers" - the word must be applied sparingly - who pay no taxes or receive government handouts has reached 65.6 million, out of a total of 151 million.
  6. They pay no income taxes. They do pay FICA, and of course sales taxes.
  7. I confess I wasn't there to see it, but I suspect government as practiced by Jefferson, Washington, Madison, et al, was far different from what Obama, Pelosi, etc are doing.

Considering the contempt which Obama has shown for listening to the will of the people, that may be a better option.
  8. I didn't say I didn't care. My point was that the media will make it sound like all tea partiers are doing it.

You made it sound like Boehner was threatening to kill them himself.
  9. Violence should never be advocated. Except after a home loss in the SEC.
