..... what a difference! This forum is wayyy more upbeat now.

Lets hope it is not fool's gold. We had to pound this team and beat them handily tonight. Otherwise the apparent troubles we've had would have been amplified.

Just got in not too long ago from the game. What a boring drive to and from nowhere!

Defensively... Still way too many guys wide open -- Thanks for the drops State! Sometimes our guys are just completely lost when playing zone.

Overall though the defense was aggresive and that was great to see. Playing 10+ yards off the receivers was a rarity in this game. When it was done though, I noticed it was usually accompanied by blitzes. Very pleased to see an aggressive atatcking style defense played throughout the entire game.

Offensively, there is a LOT of positive to be said. However, it should be noted that JR is focusing on one receiver on most plays. He really needs to break this habit. Also, on third downs he still seems unaware at times of how far the team needs to go and throws a short pass.

I won't kid myself though, he played lights out for the most part today. It was good to see him recover from last week. He's young and he needs all the success he can possibly get to keep building his confidence. It seemed to me that the offensive gameplan was opened up this week as well. Lets hope that is more than just a reflection of the opponent we were playing.

I look forward to following my tigers again to Nashville next week and cheer them on!!!

For now though, time to get some sleep.

Dude, there isn't anything going on in StarkVegas. Now or ever. What a pathetic little town.

I agree and echo everything Grad said. Sitting right behind him, I saw the same things. Great job Tigers! Keep practicing!

I wanted to make a few comments about the stadium there at MSU. We had upper deck tickets for the game. After walking up what had to be about 15 or so flights of ramps to out seats, we saw doors. When we opened the doors we entered a huge air conditioned concourse areas. The bathrooms, concession stands, tables and chairs, etc etc were all located in thiss area. Each portal to the seating area had doors as well.

I must admit I have not been to very many football stadiums but this was the first time I had been into an air conditioned concessions area for a football game (indoor stadiums excluded of course).

Although small, this was a very nice football stadium out in the middle of nowhere!

Not picking on you 99, but, is it the expectation that receivers will always be covered on every down? Opponents' receivers should never work their way open? I watched most of the game and, although Conner overthrew 2, maybe 3, open receivers, it didn't seem to be a problem peculiar to this defense or Pelini's "scheme". It happens.

The problem is that frequently receivers go completely uncovered a few times each game. This usually happens during zone defense situations and the defensive backs show confusion as to who they should be covering.

When nobody is within 10-15 yards of any given receiver, this is a problem. Especially if it is happening multiple times a game.

It's gotten much better and is happening less, but it is still painfully obvious when watching.

    Not from my view... :hihi:

That stadium just didn't have a college feel to it. Maybe it was the daytime game, but nothing seemed to have any energy on either side.
