How does that bowl game argument look now when trying to say that Flynn is a better QB than JaMarcus?

Flynn would've had 500 yards and 5 touchdowns if he started the Sugar Bowl!

Now, I'm not trying to knock Flynn. I think if he gets the chance to start next year he will be alright, but its a shame it takes some fans so long to recognize what they have.

I suppose the Miles/Russell bashers' disappearnace wasn't good enough for you.:dis:
    O.k. I'll play along.

Can they use the same arguement this year for Russell that you used last for why Flynn performed so well in the Peach?

You know, the team was healthier than they had been all year; the running game was finally working like it should have all year; oh or maybe Notre Dame never showed up, much like Miami never did.

Be ready, because you know some of these questions are coming.

Should Flynn start next season (if JaMarcus leaves), his success will depend heavily on the strength of our rushing attack. I think with a young offensive line returning and Williams, Hester, and Broussard running amuck, Flynn will have a nice season.

Other than the Peach Bowl, we haven't seen much of Flynn on the field. But, I get the feeling that he is more of the game manager type, much like Matt Mauck. Mauck did that as well as anybody in 2003, but let's not forget he shares a certain passing TD record with JaMarcus (who I believe tied it last night). What that means, is he was also able to make plays when needed (see UGA). Flynn proved this in the Peach Bowl. We ran the ball effectively, which in turn helped Flynn have the type of game he had.

I liked Flynn as the starter when the running game was in the tank... as it started to pick up, Russell was fine, except when he went "Brooks" on us... Personally, I prefer a running style quarterback, but thats just my personal preference...

Their dissaperance caused me boredom. That's why I had to bring this up.

    Yes & no.

Notre Dame did show up, they were just outmatched, much like Miami was on that night - due to differing circumstances though. ND couldn't match our talent, Miami just couldn't on that one night. A successful running game & good Oline performance were big aspects to both games. And in fact our LBs being healthy did play a significant role in our defense's performance. Also, our coaching staff outcoached the opponent both times.

The difference is that the team was a complete success and showed a total dominating performance against Miami, with Flynn only being adequate. Where as this game our team didn't dominate quite as thouroughly (because ND actually came to win) but JaMarcus had a hell of a game & showed why he was the best QB in the country.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Perrilloux can bring both of these styles to the game but doesn't have Flynn's game experience.......should be interesting if JR leaves.

I can understand wanting a running QB if we don't have RBs that can get the job done. Miles seems to want a QB with that ability (based on getting Russel to run more & also who he has recruited), but not a "running QB" if you understand what I mean.

Was Miami a better team than Notre Dame? I think so. Notre Dame had a pass defense as bad as any Tepper defense. Did they ever cover a any receiver?
Notre Dame has a better quarterback than did Miami but their defense was no where close to Miami's.

In addition it is ludicrous to compare a player who had started "0" games to a player who has been a starter for two years.

    Your play.
