watching the washington syracuse game. listening to the guys in the booth. Sean McDonough, Chris Speilman, Colin Cowherd, Rob Stone agreed that matt Flynn will be a top 10 QB by the end of the season. after a lot of the bad talk after last night, thats nice to hear.
i agree completely. i just thought that i would hear nothing but how terrible flynn is after last night.
I don't see why you would expect that. He was very much on point when the pocket didn't collapse so early. He made some great throws on the run, and looks very polished back there. I think the reason that we saw him run so much was so that VT would respect that aspect of our offense. He was the same Matt Flynn that we saw in the Peach Bowl, just with a little less pass protection and not quite as stout a running game. He will do great things this fall. Mark my words. I had some concerns coming into the season, but I saw enough flashes to feel very confident in him.
I think that is completely realistic. People are acting like he was horrible vs. Miss St. Obviously he struggled at first but then he showed that he can battle adversity & come back strong.
what does top 10 qb mean? qb rating? W-L? pass yds? nfl prospects? i disagree with the notion that so many seem to have that he somehow looked poor at the beginning of the game. got pressured, didnt miss many receivers, didnt force any throws, didnt fumble the ball, ran well, knew when to throw it away. seems like many are holding it against mf that many running plays were called for him and that pass protection broke down a few times. what? did he hold the ball too long? did he lock on to receivers?
Once again, we have a starting QB that gets national recognition, yet, some of our own fans are already complaining about him....
He may not be a top 10 QB in terms of his stats, which is what drives most of the "experts" opinions/ranking, but he does not have to put up crazy stats, LSU/Miles/Crowton will spread the ball all over and Flynn just needs to take care of the ball and let LSU's talent dominate each and every opponent. If he does that then it will not matter where he is ranked because LSU will be the National Champs.
I agree and think it's a dam shame to hear ANY mention of that right now. The guy's done an excellent job in TWO games. One was a huge upset that people didn't give us a chance in......then many still said it wasn't that impressive (His performance) BECAUSE IT WAS a blowout and the the pressure was out of the window early on. Now, he opens up, blah blah, and leads us to a huge victory we were supposed to get and there are still fools questioning him. I bet Michigan and VT would gladly trade situations......in fact, during the game, they were already talking about Beamer having to bring in his freshman to provide a spark. :hihi: So true and he's shown, by waiting his turn, that he's a team player and I'd bet if asked, he definitely take the team being ranked #1 or #2 than him being ranked the #1 or #2 QB. :thumb:
