Hey Tiger friends... From what I read, your pre-bowl practices are going smoothly. Luckily it seems the staff is less focused on Saban/Dolphins, and more focused on stopping this: http://www.scothawk.com/flvswfpublish/2004highlights/osu2004.swf http://www.scothawk.com/flvswfpublish/2004preseasontributes/hawkeyegladiator.swf http://www.scothawk.com/flvswfpublish/2004highlights/winning.swf I stand by my earlier suggestion-post that NEXT week we talk football... not coaches. We will ALL be LSU and Iowa fans long after Saban AND Ferentz are gone.... 9 DAYS TILL KICKOFF!!!!!!
Some of you hawkeye fans sure are dedicated to sticking around. I am glad almost all of you are nice and courteous and not in here smack talking. Give us time to see what happens with our coach. We'll be ready to talk football one way or another soon enough!
Yup...very tough to pay attention to this game at the moment. It will come soon enough though. Hang in there Hawkeyes.
If Saban leaves, I am sorry to say we won't be talkin much football, as all of our attention will be focused on rumor and innuendo concerning who will be our next head coach.
I can certainly understand your sentiments.... BUT as I posted in another thread, my best "advice" is to remember that you are all LSU fans, not just Saban fans. I doubt if many of you even knew who he was when he was at Michigan State, correct? The LSU program is one of the best, and you have a rich football tradition. You're stocked with NFL-caliber talent, and if need be, will have great coaches knocking down your door. I'm pretty certain that I could coach your team next year to 8-9 wins. No amount of speculation will change a damn thing, but what is for sure is that there are a bunch of young student-athletes who chose to play football at your fine school... the vast majority of which would have chosen you with any other coach. It sounds like your pre-bowl practices have gone very well, and I expect the LSU TEAM will play an excellent football game... I for one am looking forward to tipping back a few with you Cajun fans on NYD. Merry Christmas Tigers.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm personally too depressed to watch a LSU football game anytime soon. That has no affect on the fact that almost all LSU fans think very highly of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and probably enjoy watching them upset teams like Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan . . . maybe even Notre Dame. LSU fans usually pull for the underdog and I think that compared to Ohio State and Michigan, Iowa is probably the underdog.
Very true.... the press ALWAYS has us as the underdog against OSU and Michigan... some things never seem to change. But ask any Wolverine... we are their worst nightmare of late.
Understandable, BUT it all boils down to ONE SIMPLE QUESTION: Are y'all LSU fans or Saban fans? Iowa WILL lose Ferentz some day, and there will be similar speculation and venting on our board... probably worse... BUT life will go on... we'll pack the stadium, tailgate, and cheer our Hawks on till the day we die.... period.
