just thought i would stop by and give the update...

your beloved texas longhorns got back on track this weekend by sweeping what turned into a two game series against texas tech. unfortunately, weather dictated an unfortunate cancellation to the saturday finale as tech had to catch a plane. very unfortunate for the horns because tech was starting a pretty terrible pitcher that day and we were primed for a sweep which was exactly what we needed after that terrible weekend against baylor. oh well, we host kstate at home next week so hopefully we will be back in full force after that.

baylor drops 2/3 at oklahoma state in what is starting to become one of the most jeckyl and hyde seasons i have ever seen. can't figure these guys out.

tamu dropped 2/3 at oklahoma. they can't hit and good pitching is the only thing keeping it close for them.

the no one cares about the north, they suck. but mizzou swept kstate and corn beat ku.

rough weekend for the top ten. csf drops 2/3, tulane drops 2/3, lsu drops 2/3, miami drops 2/3, arkansas drops 2/3, south carolina drops 2/3, baylor drops 2/3. texas, georgia tech, and fsu are only top ten with wins this weekend.

He posted some stuff last week I think and people actually asked him to keep us up to date. He's a good guy and loves college baseball.

It looks like parity is starting to finally become a part of college baseball across the nation, joining the SEC. I wouldn't bet more than $5 right now on who will win the SEC the teams appear to be so evenly matched.

In the Baseball America top 25 rankings 7 out of the top 10 teams lost weekend series this week.

yeah, when ole miss, florida, and auburn all beat arkansas, south carolina, and lsu...then you know you're in for a pretty wild season!

the okie schools showed they plan on being a factor in conference this weekend by both winning their respective series against baylor and tamu. corn always makes a run for it out of the north too. i still like texas in the long run but i don't see anyone with <9 conference losses. looks to be pretty much the same thing in the sec.

    Incredible weekend. 7 of 10 ? WTF ?

Been over looking at Baseball America's poll. Interesting to see who moved, how, and results of the weekend's games. All said, there's no logic to it. I think they throw darts at the wall or something. :hihi:

    thanks for the update.

ill have to check if mccormick got the only win. he's become my new guy to follow outside of the sec.

huston street expected to take over for dotel this season. i think its way too soon and will need at least another year before that happens.

Someone who saw the series this weekend please tell me what happened to the Tigers versus the Plainsman? I was out of pocket all weekend and so all I saw, read or heard was that they blew a lead yesterday and lost it in the eighth. We don't get any LSU baseball radio up here in Northwest Louisiana till about midway through the season and even then you never know. In the past, only 1130 AM KWKH carries LSU baseball and that's only when the Shreveport/Bossier Mudbugs hockey season is over, which the Bugs are down 2-1 in their playoff series.

mccormick was indeed the lone winning pitcher for the bible aggies. he went six and a third...giving up four hits and two earned runs. gave up four walks though...to go along with his four k's. he is 3-1 on the season now.

as for street, yeah i heard that today as well. you may be right about it being a bit early, but if there's one quality huston unquestionably has, it's his guts no matter the situation. i don't think he's ever going to be intimidated. not many 18 year olds that could have done what he did four times in a row at omaha in 02. plus, dotel is definitely a liability there so you might as well throw the kid up there...

the biggest plus is that we have a superstar in the making in Michael Hollander. this kid can do it all at SS. great range yet better instincts. a play he made off on a ball deflected off Dirks was headed to harris at 2nd and hollander almost literally comes flying across the field and makes the play. that was simply one of about 4 highlight plays he made. he has shown great ability and clutch hitting at the plate. he is only a freshman and a state kid out of jesuit. he's worth the price of admission alone.

the biggest disappointment was Brady (not john this time) leaving Meier in too long yesterday, essentially costing us the series. We need Meier to be dominant to truly be a top 3 team imo but you cannot cost yourself a conference game to develop him. It was obvious that he needed to be pulled after giving up the first 2 hits yet he's left in and gives up 2 more. LSU was up 2 in the 8th and Meier left in giving up 4 hits and 3 runs. When you get such a gutsy outing by your starters like Smith had and up 2 in the 8th, you have to win. Smoke has to tell Brady to get justin out of there. thats my opinion anyhow and I dont think it was smoke's decision from my vantage point.

jordan mayer in his first and second start (not a good weekend for anyone named meier/mayer) went 0'fer the weekend. I think 0 for 8. ) 0 for 4 saturday with 4 k's.

Although in the 9th he hit a sure HR to dead center only to be blown down by a heavy wind. Hes a naturally strong kid and only a freshman who LSU needs to perform as well. only 3 guys have been hitting and that needs to change. Patterson is unpitchable. Ball looks like a balloon to him. hes on a Todd Walker-esque streak.

oh in case you didn't know, Lane had control problems (of all people) and we lost friday. Saturday we played well and came from behind for the 10th time to win this year. Dirks curveball was sick and when he god blesses him with movement on a given saturday, LSU always wins.

LSU has Kentucky coming in May which could help alleviate losing our first series after 12 straight and 22 of 23 series wins. I never expect a sweep but I would like one here.

    ok I better stop rambling.
