2 things were most interesting: 1) KState had 2 back to back trick plays in which the RB took a handoff and then proceeded to pass the ball. Even more amazing, both plays were successful, the 2nd ending up in a touchdown. 2) With 50 seconds and UT with no timeouts, KState does a play action pass play in which the QB nearly got sacked and stupidly threw a hurried pass out into the flat and it was somehow completed for a first down to end the game. I mean if that pass is incomplete, you give Texas 40 seconds on the clock to try and come down the field for a game tying FG. That was just ridiculously stupid.
I saw the last few minutes of that game. They couldn't have run out the clock without a first down so they went for it. Stupid, maybe. Desperate for a win, maybe. And I'm glad it happened. :thumb:
The QB could have taken the snap and run around for about 8-10 seconds and then the clock would have run out anyway. All's well that ends well.
Coach decided to go for the win...had nuts and showed trust in his team. They love him right now and they executed. Went for the throat and hit his mark...I wouldn't want to give UT's big play receivers a chance to take one to the house, or their return man. They are capable of doing that.
so you're telling me you never seen a QB run from side to side for 8-10 seconds just to kill some extra time on the clock? that play call was as bad as I have seen in quite some time....the clock was going to run down to basically zero, the play nearly backfired into a turnover.
8 or tens seconds is an eternity. No, I've never seen a qb run 10 seconds off the clock just running around. Not intensionally. I do remember one from Iowa State running from side line to side line and scoring last year, I think it was last year. It was a great play, not sure if he took 10 seconds off the clock.:geauxtige
If I remember correctly, Brees did this effectively vs Tampa Bay to try and kill as much time on the clock as possible with less than a minute to go. Maybe someone can elaborate the exact details of the situation.
