For those who didn't know: Antonio Robinson transfers to NW St.

Antonio Robinson, who left LSU earlier this month following his redshirt freshman football season, has transferred to Northwestern State and will play for the Demons beginning Saturday night in their home opener against Delaware State.

Robinson, 6-foot-1, 213-pounds, is eligible immediately under NCAA rules which permit one-time transfers from Division I-A programs to I-AA football playing universities.
He will play safety on defense this season because it's a position where his new team needs help, said fifth-year Northwestern coach Scott Stoker.
Robinson signed with LSU as a running back and could get a chance to play that position for the Demons during spring practice in 2007, said Stoker.
"We're fortunate to have the opportunity to get Antonio into our program with four years left to play," said Stoker. "He's a local kid whose family is a half-hour away, which makes this a very nice fit for everybody. He's a quality young man who's done a good job academically at LSU and just wanted to get on the field and play college football in a good program."
The Demons have made five Division I-AA playoff appearances in the last nine seasons and have been ranked in the I-AA Top 25 for the last 10 seasons, including Top 10 rankings in six of the last seven years while winning three Southland Conference titles. No Louisiana college football program, including LSU, has been more consistently successful over the past 11 seasons than Northwestern, which has only one losing record (in 1999) during that span.

What I really don't get is that reportedly he didn't want to get moved from RB to LB, which was one of the factors that lead to his transfer. Why then would he switch to safety? Whatever.

Good luck to him. He obviously transfered to the more successful program!:lol: :lol: :lol: :geauxtige

Some players would rather play NOW than play later in a bigger program. Especially if they worry about making grades. The thought of flunking out before you ever make it onto the field has made many a player think about programs like Northwestern State.

Even if he was moved to LB, he wouldn't have seen the field much. He just wanted to play. Plus, he was already declined by the program he wanted to go to, Grambling, so he didn't have many choices left.

Also, our RB coach is huge *********. Broussard quit the team because of him, and it took Miles to convince him to come back.

we all don't fit perfectly in each and every situation. if we did, none of us would ever change jobs! let's wish this young man luck and hope that he succeeds at northwestern st :thumb:

It's obvious he was willing to play any position as long as he got to play sooner rather than later. Good luck to him!
