I've watched MMA for 15 years, so I was glad to see SpikeTV air some live UFC fights tonight, and one guy I had known of for a while is fighting...but I didn't know he was born in BR and attended LSU. Said he started the LSU Jiu Jitsu club...anyway, he's in a pretty good fight right now on SpikeTV, his name is Sam Hoger. THey'll be re-airing the show at 11pm in it's entirety.

Sam Hoger didn't look good when he was accused of being a thief on the Ultimate Fighter show earlier in the spring. He also betrayed his team during the show when they would have those team competitions. Finally, he just flatout got drove by F. Griffin by easily.

Yea he was a shady character on the show, I can't say I was enthused to find out he went to LSU. He has looked pretty good though in his two televised fights on TV since the end of the show, but I don't expect him to make it big.

Yep you could see that coming a mile away, both very experienced..both have decent standup and both world class grapplers. Every ingredient was there for a stalemate.

not really. many of the best matchups are those styles but they both were couterpunchers and counter attackers. kept waiting for the other to move. well at least it was free, just bad for those new to watching it and UFC.

didnt liddell fight a couple weeks ago? i really dont care to see him fight jeremy horn. he's gonna kill him.

Salaverry is not a counter fighter, he's very aggressive. Marquardt is not either, I've watched him in Pancrase for years, the problem is they both knew how good the other was and they were hesitant to make a move that may give the advantage to the other.

Horn subbed Chuck some years ago before they both were very well thought of (although I've been a Horn fan for a long time personally). Since then they've both gotten so much better, I can really see this going either way. As much as Chuck has improved on the ground, I can still see him getting caught by Horn if he gets taken down...obviously of utmost importance is to stay standing. Even though Jeremy has been working for years on his striking he doesn't have the power to do damage to Chuck - so even if he catches him standing he'll lose the exchanges.

Bottom line, like everyone knows, standing=advantage Chuck. Ground=advantage Horn. Chuck has a bigger advantage standing than Horn does on the ground though imo. I like them both, would be ok with either winning. Would not surprise me at all to see Horn win this, one of the most well rounded and smartest fighters in the world.

well of course they knew how good each of the other was but crazy to not attack for 15 mins. even at the end they fought scared and counterpunched. bad press doesnt sell their fights and they got booed off the stage on a mainevent. they will learn from this im sure. at least ivan made some attempts when it was obvious at the risk of getting submitted. i think hes the better fighter anyhow.

well yeah, chuck wont allow it to go to the ground. ive been watchin ufc since ufc I and ive always liked horn but this one will stay up top i can almost guarantee that. i hate chuck anyhow so here's hoping jeremy chokes him out.

im sick of seeing that kook chick that likes liddell anyhow. that quack actress ...whats her name. juliette louis i think. make that lewis.

haha...she's washed up and takes any opportunity to get on tv.

As hard as it is to get Chuck down, I do think Horn can do it if the fight goes longer than a half a round. He's sneaky/slick with his grappling a la Nogueira. Can he keep him down long enough to do anything? I don't know, but he better pull something off quickly while he's down there because few have held Chuck down for long. I still think it's a close fight, perhaps 60/40 Chuck. I don't bet against Chuck anymore heh.

I looked up a picture of this guy online, and damn, I had a few classes with him. He was in some of my PoliSci classes. Don't remember if that was his major or not though it may have been. He didn't look all that big or intimidating back then, not one I would imagine in the UFC, although some of those guys win based on disposition as much as physique. He was a fairly annoying character back then too.
