Fowles and Augustus Team Up Again

Great accomplishment for Fowles, we will be seeing the LSU stars in the Olympic Games in the near future.

Sylvia Fowles, a junior center on LSU’s women’s basketball team, is one of 21 players named to the 2007-08 USA Women’s Senior National Team, it was announced by USA Basketball on Tuesday.

Fowles joins former LSU teammate Seimone Augustus on the team in addition to the group of seasoned veterans and rising stars, headlined by three-time Olympic gold medalist Sheryl Swoopes (Houston Comets) and two-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Smith (Detroit Shock).

The team will train together over the next two years as the U.S. attempts at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games and then defend its three consecutive Olympic gold medal winning streak. It is expected that players selected to compete on USA Senior National teams in the 2007 and 2008 international competitions will come from the USA Basketball Senior National Team pool.

<--- Wishes we could have had one more year of these two together plus Tameka. Fowles is maturing now and with Seimone and Tameka's scoring, it would have been great.

Like having another year of Chris Jackson and Shaquille, or Thomas and Big Baby.

College life is too short for basketball teams.
