Not me. Not only am I tired of reading about his comments but this wasn't presented in a good light, IMO.
I'm sure that has nothing to do with your affinity for USC. Since the article clearly stated Miles as a hero and characterized them as shown below, I don't take it as a slam on our coach.
No, it's more about not liking words such as cheating and trash talking associated with our conference/program. I've posted my feelings about coaches talking smack.
I have no problem with Miles comment about the USC schedule. It is what it is, no brag, just fact. Cowherd defended Miles, said he was spot on, we all agreed with Les, why wish he hadn't said it? It may make the writers want to see a matchup with USC. Would it be used as locker room material by CPC, yes. But really, they'd be so hyped up, do you think they'd be more hyped up? I doubt it. As far as his comments at the recruiting bash about Bama, he should have skipped that one. But he is who he is, he's passionate about the game, and I like that. He will make an ill advised comment from time to time, but he's not a wind up toy always playing it safe, he's an involved human who choses to play the game. Will that give some locker room fodder to Bama. Yes. Will it make a difference? No. saban would love to whip LSU and he'll have Bama sky high, Miles comment or not. Same for LSU. Does anybody think the rivalry with Bama DIDN'T step up a notch? It did, and Miles said, hey we've got a new rival in the SEC west, and he's right. Plus he's like your crazy old uncle who doesn't always say the right thing, buy you'd rather go fishing with him than anyone else in the family, cause you know you're gonna have some fun! Geaux Les!!!
I am glad that he has the 'nads to say it. Did he say anything that wasn't true? If the Pac 10 and Big 12 are so tough top to bottom then the SEC schools should start playing the bottom 5 or 6 of either conference every year. Then after we have stomped a mud hole in them.......see what the babbling heads in the sports media have to say. It would be an easier path to the NC if any SEC team had to run the gauntlet of the PAC 10.
I don't see what the big deal is. He just stated what most coaches are thinking anyway. I'm sure he has called Carroll and they have had a big laugh over it.
Every writer has agreed with what Miles said about the two conferences, but merely taken the elitist viewpoint that they(writers) somehow own the exclusive rights to speak their minds, and blame Miles for saying it, not for being incorrect. Being brash and excitable are qualities many on this board were blaming Miles last year for not having. I know it's a pretty slow cycle for the board but I get more worked up about the pothole I ran over 2 weeks ago.You guys that have a real problem with this should really just relax a bit.
