I lived amongst the Damn Dawgs for 5 years in Atlanta. Every Sat. during football season I entered my favorite sports bar with my LSU attire in full force. Week in, week out, I was the only LSU fan. I endured a world of dawg sh**. But, it was worth it, my last year there, LSU spanked the dawgs fanny for the SEC championship. The bet was that all the regulars would bow, scrap and kiss my a** if LSU won and they did. GOD, THAT FELT SO GOOD. Must be deja vu, I feel another a** kissin and butt whippin coming on for 08.

You have to look at what the team (tOSU) did during last season. They were picked to finish 3rd or 4th in the big ten, and most buckeye fans were predicting 2-3 regular season losses through scarlet and grey colored glasses. They were a young team with an inexperienced QB (much to our detriment in this year's MNC). They competed, with the all world LSU team and were ruined, imo, by inexperience at QB and less than desirable coaching. the QB thing will be fixed and we are returning 18 starters (19 if you don't count the FB-not necessarily standard formation at this point). The Florida game was an example of an overly cocky team getting depantsed on national television by a team that was very talented and hungrier.

I realize that given the history, we buckeyes will have to explain this over and over again until our team can get over that hump, which will happen, rest assured. I don't want to get in the way of people being fashionable, bashing the buckeyes that is, but let's be realistic. The big ten will be back, blah blah blah...why do we have to keep having the same conversation?

I know this is an LSU site, but I don't necessarily see how that requires bashing other teams. not what i think of when i think of LSU fans, but suit yourselves...The buckeyes will do our talking on the field:wave:

Is that why you were pre season #1 for 07 ? Face it guy, your team plays in a 2 team conference. You will be tested this year by USC. I hope you win, but you won't. You will lose this game, win all of your others and will be in the running for the BCSNCG at the end of the year.

There's nothing to explain. You can't explain away 0-9. You can try to make EXCUSES. But you can't explain it.

Why is it OK to say the Buckeyes will do their talking on the field in the FUTURE, but not OK to hold the Buckeyes accountable for the talking they did on the field in the recent PAST?

0-9....that's neither an opinion or a misunderstanding. It's not a perception. It's not ancient history. It's not momentary deviation, or a distortion of reality, or an anomoly.

0-9 is quite possibly the worst record of any highly regarded opponent from one conference against another conference in college bowl game history.

If you post on LSU boards with something less than humility, you will be reminded of reality at every opportunity.

Only one of us is being arrogant. I was simply stating that returning 19 of 22 starters including retaining all but one of our underclassmen, NFL prospect defensive players has apparently given the voters reason to think we should be #1 next year. All of which means nothing if we lose a single game, because of the record against the SEC, we will be overlooked in favor of an SEC team with one or two more losses than us, for the next several years. If that's being arrogant, you'll have to explain it to me in more detail, from down here on earth, rather than from that condescending soapbox of yours. Believe me, i'm more than aware of reality...and i don't need you to remind me of 0-9, it seems to be the mantra of buckeye bashers worldwide. Obviously true, but to rub it in smacks a little of hubris...

You throw out a bunch of inaccurate junk (like season expectations last year), whine about having to "explain", sulk about buckeye bashing (honestly, unless you provoke, we don't think about your team very much), respond to my post by talking about something completely different, then call me arrogant for calling you out?

As for hubris, I fully understand the pure luck of LSU even being in the position to dominate your overrated team last season. I'm not spouting about LSU dominance. I'm reviewing Ohio State's bowl incompetence against the SEC. Nothing more.

I've underlined my responses to your comments above.

I'm a buckeye and will always defend my team when i think they're being unfairly talked about, as i would expect most of the LSU fans i've met here to do as well. I don't care where i am, I will defend them here, as i did in NOLA, I am a fan, it's what i do...I'm a buckeye, nice to meet you

It doesn't surprise or bother me at all that Ohio State is a VERY EARLY preseason #1. They've been to the big game twice in a row regardless of the outcome, and they return an insane number of starters from last year's team.

If the Big 2+8 is down again next year, then they'll cake walk in (assuming they beat USC) and that's that. But even in a weak conference, going undefeated is an accomplishment. As LSU proved last year, when you start at the top, you are EVERYONE's game of the year. So EVERYONE brings their very best game to try to take you out.

If they go undefeated, they probably get to the BCS CG again and will deserve it more this year, since that will mean they would have beaten USC. Assuming USC doesn't have some kind of ridiculously bad season, of course.

My prediction, however, is that Ohio State ends up fighting a lot harder this year because the Big 2+8 will become more of a Big 5+5. Different teams, different coach at Michigan, different season.

I also predict they shake the Oh-fer-Nine moniker.
