Alright, it is slow... Which newcomer (true/redshirt freshman or even sophmore that saw little PT) do you think will make the biggest contribution this coming season? Last year, Keiland Williams really came on strong for us towards the end of the season as a true freshman & previously a 5 star recruit. So Will it be one of our two 5 star recruits for this year, Chad Jones at Safety/Terrance Toliver at WR? Or someone else? My vote is for Byrd, JUCO WR (I would say LaFell, but he saw substantial PT last year so I don't think he counts).
LaFell will be a freak of nature. My pick is Jai Eugene. I think he will have a huge year. He would have had a good year last year on special teams had he not broken his thumb. Edit also: 2 words: Richard Murphy.
First of all, thanks for creating a topic we can discuss. Let's see, at RB, I think Murphy will have an impact, something like Williams last year. At WR, I have a feeling that Byrd will step up and create an impact. At safety, I think if Chad Jones chooses to play footbaw, then he's going to have an impact too, and maybe even steal the starting position to play along with Craig Steltz. I think that's it for us.
because we are all putting our eggs in Jones's basket, I will say that Curtis Taylor will step up big. the coaches love his work ethic.
Maybe I'm misreading you but I get the impression you think Richard Murphy might have an impact this year. I think Byrd will step up huge this year at WR. Don't know about Richard Murphy but everyone else seems to think he'll be great, so maybe he steps in big at RB. On the defensive line, you really can't expect a frosh to come in and kick butt since we're so loaded there. The only area on defense would be safety and that could be Jai or Curtis Taylor. I guess I'm not really adding anything here, but there's no sense in deleting it now.
Our bench could start for most SEC schools. It's ridiculous. I'm going to have to go with Byrd since he has the edge in experience.
I will go with someone who hasnt been picked yet. I say that Perry Riley steps up next year and solidifies the LB position. I cant wait to see our 7 man front in action next year. I will also say Perrilloux will make a significant impact and add a few wrinkles to the offense. Could also see him starting a few games next season if unforeseen problems occur with Flynn. Danny McCray will also have an impact rotating with Steltz at SS. WR: Look for Dixon to get more touches as the season progresses.
I'm going with Kirston Pittman. Dude was a pass rush beast as a freshman. Hoping he has recovered from the injuries and can earn himself a spot in the 08 draft.
