Back in August, when we heard that Ricky Williams was "retiring" from football,
most of us who knew how Ricky is chuckled and viewed it as nothing more than an amusing little footnote. Better the Dolphins than us, we said. Boy, did the Saints know what they were doing, we said. Little did we know the chain reaction that his announcement was going to set into motion 4 months later...how that announcement was going to reverberate all the way into the world of college football. :dis: :dis: :dis:

Ricky is one of many many reasons why the Fins tanked and WH probably would have baged Saban even if Mr spliff had played this year.

Ah, I've got to beg to differ on this one. Ricky's retirement wasn't the only thing that caused the 'fins to tank, but the timing of it absolutely killed them. Not only did it affect team morale, losing the player their entire offense was built around, but it left them w/ no time to pick up the services of another franchise-type back (namely Eddie George, who the Cowboys picked up just days before Ricky's announcement). Granted, the 'fins have other major problems, i.e., lack of a QB, etc., but Ricky has got to shoulder a large part of the blame for their total collapse.

Eddie George is washed up. He would not have helped.

The receiver Boston going down was the next big blow. No running game, and a passing game that was suddenly diminished.
