Gates Removes Afghan Military Commander

    id really like the opinion on this from our military guys around here. of course, everyone's opinions are welcome, but id really like the opinion of those that have served.

    General McChrystal is a Special Operations expert and Afghanistan is a Special Ops war. This has to be a good move. McChrystal has experience in both Iraq and Afghanistan already and is the guy who killed Al-Qaida chief Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Irag.

    I'm very impressed with Gates. He's apparently apolitical, having served under Democrats and Republicans many times. More importantly, he holds people accountable for their actions, something Rumsfeld failed miserably at.

    General's get fired normally by their military boss.

    For Gates to do it and publically announce it suggests it was appropriate.
