The guy is almost begging that successes in years in "5" repeats itself. I am guilty of moaning about the local sports writers, but this type of garbage shows up regularly in the Gainesville paper. The Tiger Rag had a columnist that just rehashed history every week for his by-line, but outside of that most writers do a credible job. We're fortunate. So my kudos to the local guys who couldn't cut it as English majors, lacked the imagination for advertizing, didn't have the looks for TV, or the voice for radio. Good job. Most of the time.
It's defintely a stretch. Even his metaphors and similes are strained - "Opinions are like cell phones, everybody has one". :dis: Nevertheless, I don't mind a little historical rehash, especially during the slow summer months. I mean, what else is there to write about.
