No matter what anybody says I would much rather be the tigers this week than the dawgs. Ga. is going to have a tough time getting over the fact that they lost to us twice last year. Especially getting embarrassed in the last game. That stays with you. Just as with Georgia not being able to beat Florida. Georgia will have to overcome a whole lot this game. They are unproven in everything except pass coverage.

    Couldn't disagree more.

With the glaring exception of Florida and LSU (no shame in losing twice to the best team in the country), Mark Richt and Georgia has been nails/lights out/unstoppable in big games the past three seasons, time and again winning tough and close games without fail.

As for last year's games "staying with them", I don't buy that for an instant. They match up well against LSU, that's for sure, and I just think our running game and defense is just a hair better, though they have a moderate edge at QB and a massive edge at PK (Andy Bailey is a combined 15 of 17 with the FGs and extra points).

Going to be a tough one, but I always think LSU is gonna win, no matter the opponent.

Georgia WILL fold under the pressure and i really agree with u TejasTiger about us basically having nothing to lose considering we already have our one loss for the season. Wait till LSU wins and then all u will hear is excuses, excuses, and more excuses from GEORGIA

    LSU-10
    Georgia-7

Add all that to the fact that our pass coverage (espically the deep ball) is probably our weakest point on defense.

Add to the fact that it is in their house and will be packed with DAWGS this game should go down to the wire. I keep reading Richt has a "special" game plan for LSU. It wil be a battle of special teams and coaching. :thumb:

Georgia is to be feared. The entire country is looking at Georgia as a possible dissapointment...(kinda like Auburn of last year). That, along with NEEDING to get revenge of LSU, makes them extremely dangerous. Sure they didn't have too good of a game against Marshall, but we didn't have too good of a game against OSU either. I'm sure Saban will have our boys ready to come out with a 3-peat, but in the meantime, I'm extremely nervous.

Or maybe since we have already loss one time we will have a little more pressure since we cannot afford another loss, there are 2 ways to look at that. Maybe the sense of urgency that the players feel due to having one loss will help us though.

The one thing I keep hearing from UGA fans that I don't buy is that Mark Richt has been holding something back for LSU. Has he been holding back for 2 years? Was he holding back when they almost lost to SC? I ain't buying that story. The problem has been and is their execution. They won't have time to run anything exotic against the blitzing LSU defense anyway.

You can feel confident in calling the next UGA fan that tells you that an idiot.

While he hasn't opened up the playbook completely, to say that he is holding something back just for LSU is pretty foolish.

    Maybe this'll help.

Maybe I can clarify, although, like the rest of us "Playstation All-Americans" I don't have any deep insights into the program. Last year, Georgia made the painful transition from an all-senior OL in '02 to a group of mostly green freshman and sophomore OL. As such, Georgia wasn't holding anything back offensively. We were just trying to get the ball across the LOS in whatever ham-and-egg way we could.
A few things are different this year offensively, most notably the lack of pressure on Greene. The OL's doing it's job, but injuries at RB forced us to try to work a passing game when defenses knew they could throw a cover-2 on us. Even though we had limited use of our weapons in the backfield, the South Carolina game is where you'll probably learn the most about how our offense works, since nobody in his right mind sits on his best plays when he's down 16-0. Some of the play action and misdirection is in there, as well as the slow, grinding ball-control offense. SC has a good D this year (although if you want to base your entire opinion on having watched them one time a year ago against the eventual national champion, that's your preregotive) and Richt wanted to see that his offense could wear them out. Looking at a 16-6 halftime deficit, a lot of coaches would have been in more of a hurry than Richt was to put points on the board and they might have taken some foolish risks in the process. When Georgia gives up a big play, it's usually due to a bad decision made on the field, not upstairs or on the sidelines. I suspect that the only plays we held back were ones we didn't have the personnel for. We had everyone (besides Lumpkin, of course) for the Ga. Southern game, but the second half was played mostly by scrubs. The SC game isn't a great representation of Georgia's O, but it's probably as good a proxy as you're gonna get for what Georgia will bring this Saturday.
