Maybe if she put a bag over her head.

Two things here. One, never get involved in that. Women who get beat up like it. Why else would they stay? We drove up to a club once and this older guy we went to HS with was slapping his gf around. I dropped him with a left (I'm left handed) and straddled him to pop him a couple more licks so he wouldn't come back and bother me later- you phuck 'em up enuff they think twice about it. When I knew something his bitch was on my back. I said fuck this and went inside.

Two, if the guy from NY would've had a gun, maybe he'd still be alive.

I'm about to buy another one. Either a S&W Shield or a Ruger LCR or SR9c. Later I may add a S&W Bodyguard. Not a big fan of .380 cut this one fits in your hand.

i have a colt .38 detective special revolver
    i have a glock 17 9mm semi auto

so i guess i am one of those big semi-auto nuts that just suck so bad that i need to take lessons from a housewife with a .38. whoops, i am a chick with a .38.

but here is the kick. literally. the 9mm has less recoil and is easier to use than my .38 revolver. i have had 6 hand surgeries over the past 10 years. with my glock, i have just as much stopping power should i need it for self protection, but i can handle it more easily, which means more proficiently, which means (gasp) more safely.

amazing how the media can scare some people with the words "semi auto".

correct. women do like to be beaten. some poor sap didnt realize this and got shot because guns are everywhere.

the solution for the above problem was not more guns, it was fewer .

I don't think its a fair comparison because the odds of being injured/killed in a motorcycle accident are far greater then anything bad happening with any of my weapons (not including having to use them for self defense; which I concede is a remote possibility). But, as the old saying goes - I'd rather have a gun and not need one, then to need a gun and not have one.

This may sound hypocritical, but I actually agree; but only because there are so many people out there who are not educated with their proper use or what situations you or not allowed to use deadly force. Then there are the ones who are hot headed and act before they think and others who are just plain crazy.

They can take away rights to keep and bear arms as long as MY gun rights are not taken away.

and, to be fair, that guy confronted an unarmed and untoxicated man in his house, who did know where he was. he could have very easily just called the cops instead. or even just beaten that guy up, because it is easy to bet up people when they are wasted. a basebal lbat would have been more than enough threatening force.

also for the record, there almost surely is a point at which owning a gun is no more risky than eating a cheeseburger. really good training, a gun safe, trigger locks that nobody, including your wife, can solve. complete sanity without depression, no alcoholism or any sort of nearby mentally troubled folks would bring you pretty close to safety, i would imagine. of curse all those protections would make the gun far less accessible when needed. on balance, for almost everyone, guns are not safe to own.

That is a weak ass argument. Besides, wearing blaze orange isn't always a requirement depending upon many different things. BTW in this particular case, no laws were broken in regard to the victim's choice of clothing color.

It's still a pistol though, do you need a bushmaster to defend your home or hunt? Do you need an Ak-47 to defend your home? No you don't, all you need is a pistol, or a shotgun, and a rifle or shotgun to hunt. Why does anyone need a street sweeper or an Uzi, or a Mack 10, or an M4, or a AR-15? Why not just allow 50 cals and rpg's to be sold and owned by anyone.
