Gil Brandt, the former longtime Dallas Cowboys vice president of player personnel, concurs. Brandt, who has spent much of his post-Cowboys career helping college teams in coaching searches, said this is "one of the best, if not the best job in the country."

"This is a job where you don't have to recruit. You select," Brandt said. "When Nick came here, they had to recruit. Now, with the exception of maybe four or five guys, they could get about anyone in the country."

If I had to pick the 5 guys he may be speaking about, I would think it's Stoops, Carroll, Spurrier (just cuz he has already committed), Bowden and Paterno (people like that).

So does that mean we could lure away somebody like a Mark Richt?

Is that feasible? That just seems like too much of a lateral move on Richt's part.

I would guess Stoops, Carroll, Ferentz, Spurrier, Bowden. I don't think anyone even considers JoePa anymore, plus I'd add to that list Coker - but I don't think he was speaking of Coker because he's not sought after.

I'm sure Penn State fans would hate to see Paterno go.

See I don't put Iowa's program on the par of Georgia's.

So I think LSU has a much better chance at getting a Ferentz versus a Richt.

    Don't you?

I threw in Paterno only from the aspect that he would be finishing out his career at Penn State obviously. LSU would not be interested in him if he was available.

I don't think we can get either coach....maybe Brandt thinks we have a shot at Richt or Ferentz, but he's just guessing as we are. He doesn't have access to agent/univ. communication at this point.

    Well, that's obvious.

The point of this thread is to see what level of coaches people think LSU could attract at this point.
