I just found out today that the Tulane Football team has been trying to train without a functioning weight room. My brother went to school with one of their bench guys, and that's how I found out. They're supposed to have it up, I think by the end of the season.

Poor dudes. Katrina hit them a whole lot harder than it his us.

Tulane University has a LOT of money. If they chose not to spend any of it on getting their weight room up and running as soon as possible, shouldn't the blame lie with the Tulane University Administration?

It doesn't seem like Tulane has used a weight room in years.

Tulane University has a LOT of money invested in more important things, like repairing their educational buildings. School is first, and athletics is second, as it should be. I'm just saying it's rough on the athletes.

I think TU got their weight room back in May. Just in time for the fb team to be out of school for the summer. Theie athletic facilities are on the end of campus that took the worst of the school's hit from katrina. It is slowly coming back together.

And they don't have a lot of money now. TU had a lot of uninsured losses and are (like so many others) fighting with one of their insurance carriers to get paid for their losses.

I was very proud of Tulane last year for keeping its football team and season together after the storm, playing on the road every game. But this is a new year and its back to business for us and them as well.

I give Tulane credit for all they've done for New Orleans and for being brave and committed in the face of Katrina's adversity, no doubt. They don't need me to say it, because it is an obvious truth.

All that I am saying is that Tulane's weight room is not the only one in the metro New Orleans area, is it? Was there no commercial fitness establishment that the team could have used? Probably there were several, perhaps?

Well, if there were, and the team would arrive promptly at 5:00 am every morning for their workouts, I believe that they would have had plenty of time for a solid strength training program.

Didn't think they'd need a weight room after carrying all those tvs and appliances out of those stores and through all that water. :hihi:
