The Texas Longhorns will NOT go to a BCS bowl game.....AGAIN.......this year. Cal and Utah are in, Texas is out. Cal and Utah have relatively no chance at losing their last game of the season. Serves them right for buying off that ref in the Kansas game this past saturday. It's beautiful, oh so beautiful <clutching a hanky sobbing out of control>.
Yeah.. Someone had posted about this earlier... The six BCS conference champs get 6 of the 8 spots. Then the rule providing that any non-BCS conference team that makes the BCS top 6 gets a bid kicks in - thus putting Utah in.. leaving one spot. The remaining at large spot would go to Cal due to them being ranked higher than Texas in the BCS.
I initially posted the thread on this, but no one had a clear answer. Then I saw where someone else started a thread and suddenly an answer popped up. I just thought the final verdict deserved a thread of its own. It made my day today to find this out.
damn those guys are gonna be pissed... Can you imagine how much hype we will have to hear about them next year if they don't make it? "Texas was one of the best teams in the nation, and didn't get their shot at a BCS game. Look out for them this year." I can't wait....
Actually, I wanna see LSU and Texas in the Cotton. Texas will be ranked 5th over Utah more than likely in both polls (especially after beating a much better opponenent in A&M vs. Utah playing BYU). LSU should be ranked about 10th by the time the bowls come around. Beating a 5th ranked Texas team puts us between 6th and 7th spot in the final polls. You gotta like that. Who the hell wants to play an Iowa or Wisconsin or Va. Tech, especially if Wisconsin loses to Iowa this week, which it will.
That reminds me... If Utah wins their conference but does not play in a BCS bowl, I think they would get into the Liberty Bowl with their conference tie in. If this is the case, they would play Louisville. A Louisville vs. Utah matchup would be a great offensive game!
You called it. The hype and the complaining will wear us out. Funny though, the media gives 'em a lot of love every year until they get their ass handed to them by the dirt burglars in Dallas. Then the wolves arrive at the door. And...from what I see, no changes are indicated. Mack can't beat Stoops' troops. Hello Holiday Bowl. When you can't win your conference, you shouldn't complain about being uninvited to the prize party. :dis:
