Giving much props to LSU... http://www.thestate.com/gamecocks/story/181330.html Even this guy realizes that the Tigers were just mailing in the second half performance. Otherwise, the game wouldn't have been so close.
"We didn't have a play we (thought) we could score with," Spurrier said. "I didn't know what to call."... Ooohh my....I got me some new signature material... any team that can make Head Ball Coach say "I didn't know what to call"...[Chills/Goosebumps]
I'm still trying to figure out why Spurrier kicked the field goal. It made no sense it all. Go for it on your own 30, but not on our 5? It was like waving the white flag to surrender. Never thought I'd see him give up like that.
see the quote I just posted.. that's what he was talking about.. I don't think I've ever seen Spurrier say that.. lol
Understand. Guess he wanted to reward his team for getting down there and didn't want to come up empty again. Sort of like a moral victory. But he gave up on his team at that point.
Yeah, I love that Spurrier admitted that. I also laughed when Spurrier said that USC was on par with Vandy, Miss St. and Kentucky. Want to bet Kentucky already has that up on the bulletin board? Maybe Spurrier should have substituted Auburn or Tennessee this year...?
I have discussed this with buds some time ago. The concensus was that post-NFL Spurrier is much more humble than pre-NFL Spurrier. He is still just as good, but without the overbearing attitude. You see flashes now and then of the old but it ends there. It is good to get some respect from the OBC and I hope he continues to build the program... Later, Fur
